CPU Core Voltage
Hello,
Ok, I know this is not a sage issue, but I know there are plenty of hardware gurus out there that may be able to help me out. My sage/music server began crashing yesterday. I have been playing with meedio and a couple of their plugins and was having some weird issues with them, so I figured this was the cause. I noticed that the intel active monitor was not loading up at bootup so I ran it and it showed the CPU core voltage as way low (sorry, I dont remember the actual voltage). When I rebooted I did get the microsoft "serious error" recovery message. I got several of these one after the other. The MS website indicated a driver problem and then graphics adapter driver problems. An hour or so later I fired her up and no problems other than Girder, Sage, and active monitor not wanting to load on startup. I dumped all the meedio stuff, defragged and re-booted. Girder, sage, and active monitor then loaded up at start, but did so much more slowly than normal. All went well for about an hour so I shut it down for the night. This morning I fired it back up and she ran fine for about an hour. I went to work and left it running. A couple of hours later the wife said she went into the home office and found it had crashed again. I am guessing the power supply. The ps is an Antec Neo Power 480w and is only @ six months old. The CPU is and intel P4 3.0g presscott and I bought it along with the ps. The mobo is a new (2 mos old) intel 865perl. Any chance low core voltage could damage the cpu? Is there anything I should check out before replacing the ps with my spare? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jesse Last edited by Jesse; 04-27-2005 at 08:11 PM. Reason: spelling |

It could be a heat issue. I would make sure you don't have a dead fan and that the intakes are not blocked or clogged with dust.

On the intel motherboard cdrom driver disk install the Intel Active Monitor software. it will give you warnings if your hardware specs are below or above the recommended thresholds. Its ok software but it comes for free with the MB. Give it a try. Otherwise download some freeware voltage/fan/cpu software. I think MB5 was a recommended program. /Tal
