New PC or MVP?????
Hey All,
I have a SageTV server running in my home and use a couple of pc's with SageClient to access the server. I want to replace my TIVO by adding a HTPC running SageClient and an SVideo output to my television. Would it be better to just use a Hauppague MVP instead? Thanks, Steve |

IMO, if you don't need/want DVD or other non-MPEG2 playback, and you've got an SDTV, the MVP is the way to go. Cheap, quiet, and good quality
![]() If you want DVD playback, or non-MPEG2, or have an HDTV, that's probably a different story then. |

Hi Steve,
Based on what you describe, I'd definately opt for the MVP (wired ethernet, if possilble). The Tivo you are replacing doesn't playback DVD's, and judging by your statement about hooking up via s-video you don't need hi-def. Sounds like a 'no-brainer' for an MVP. -PGPfan |

I'm kind of in the same boat except I have a lot of DivX movies... am I correct in saying MVP will not play these?
THanks |

You are correct, cpals.
Transcoding of Divx isn't currently implemented in the Sage MVP plug-in. No word if the 3.0 "official" MVP client will support it either. -PGPfan |
