Has anyone tried the R5000-HD Sat Receiver Mod?

Just wondering if anyone has tried this receiver mod w/ SageTV. Right now it doesn't look like sage can tell it what to record. I'm wondering if the GraphEdit plugin could be modified to work with it, since the R5000 uses USB2 instead of firewire. It doesn't seem like they plan on making a "PVR Plugin" for computer based pvr programs which would mean that using their program to record would be necessary and not really worth while.

The Encoder is generic. If you can create a graph that safes the stream in a format sage can play, it will work.

Oh well, just got an email from R5000, it seems that their mod will not work w/o their software. After looking at the 169time mod it seems that may be the better option as there are already instructions to create a graph for dvhstool, i'm sure i can easily use that for sage instead.

Any used the 169time mod with sage?

Stanger, I see you suggesting these to people in other threads, do you have any experience with them?

It's more me pointing out those are the only way to record HD from sat, than me recommending them. I'm still on analog cable

Careful on spending money on a HD hacked recevier form Dish or Directv. They plan on converting there signal to mpeg4 later this year. From the diffrent forums I have read it seems you will still be able to receive the channels currently on HD but any new channels will be in the mpeg4 format and you will need a new receiver in order to watch those.

Q: Will my 169time system be compatible with future transmission standards such as MPEG4 and 8PSK?
A: 169time upgrades are already proven compatible with the 8PSK system from DishNet. Although there are currently no services using MPEG4 for HD from satellite, 169time is developing a solution for these. It is expected that when MPEG4 is actually deployed, 169time will ship an update that allows recording those broadcasts.
This leads me to think that current systems will work w/ mpeg4, of course this means nothing until DirecTV actually says something.

But yeah, don't want to spend 1K on something that wont work next year!
