No sound after FF

It's a new set-up;

Hardware

3 gig P4
Abit AI7 mb, onboard Realtec AC 97 sound
1 gig ram
EVGA 6600GT
2 Hauppauge 150's
2 SATA hd's

Software

Win XP Pro
SageTV 2.2.8
iMON RC

Ok, the first show recorded was "24" last night. We started watching after the recording was finished. Got to the first commercial break and hit FF. Hit Play and the video is fine but no sound. Eventually found the wav volume slider was all the way down. There is an Volume icon in the task bar, open it up and it shows the playback properties, the same window you get if you go to the Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Volume tab, Advanced.

The volume gets turned down every time. Any solution ?

What are the settings in Detailed Setup -> Audio? try a different audio decoder or perhaps even renderer.

Is the remote somehow also set to mute on FF entry?

Hi Andy,

Tried various combinations. Should have said that in initial post.

It's not muting, just moving the wav volume slider all the way down.

This happened to me and it drove me NUTS!!! I fixed it by turning off the "Sage uses system volume" or by turning the volume all the way up and the restarting sage.

I don't remember which fixed it.

It certainly is maddening !! Playing around with Sage, I found there is interaction between "Ctrl M" (Fast Fwd) and "Ctrl Shift M" (audio mute). Using the keyboard, I hit 'Ctrl M" to fast forward the recording, then "Ctrl D" to play, I must press "Ctrl Shift M" twice to toggle the audio back on.

Where is "Sage uses system volume" switch located ?

Well, found a workaround until someone gets back with a fix. Just don't use FF (Ctrl M), use Skip Fwd (Ctrl F) instead. Another thing ... Reading on page 156 of the SageTV manual, it says the Play Faster (Ctrl M) command is for DVD playback, nothing mentioned about recordings. It certainly doesn;t work well with recordings. So the problem could be RTFM !! :-)

Ok, ok, ok .... The FF command works as it should when playing a DVD, it's only when trying to use it while playing back a recording that you lose sound. So, a 'feature' in DVD mode becomes a 'bug' in TV playback mode.
