Problem with incomplete recordings

I'm having a problem with certain recordings in SageTV. I have some of my favorites set with a 2 minute start padding. Sometimes one of these favorites pre-empts a tuner and the last few minutes of another show are cut off with a red bar.

I can watch the truncated show without any problems the first time through. However, one the red zone at the end of the file is reached, Sage gets upset. The video cuts out to solid black. Playback stops, with SageTV indicating "paused" If I press rewind, SageTV stops responding for 10-20 seconds. Sometimes it will play audio after that, but no video.

When this happens, I can't watch the truncated recording again; it won't rewind. All I can do is delete the recording or select recording error. Any idea how to correct this?
