Remote woes + 100% cpu w/pvr-350

Hello all, I am evaluating Sage after getting too frustrated with mythtv. I have a Hauppauge 350. It is running on an 800mghz machine with 512mb of ram.

The CPU was spiking at 100% so I decided to download the new decoder and drivers from hauppauge. After installing these (still almost utilizing 100% of the CPU), the remote no longer works.

The remote works fine with wintv2000, but in Sage the buttons do not do anything. Even going into the Detailed Settings and just trying to get return values from the buttons fails.

Any ideas? I even deintalled and reinstalled Sage but that did not correct the problem. Could this be a registry problem?

Thanks

-BL

Did you check the option to enable that remote when you installed SageTV? See this FAQ: How do I use the Hauppauge remote to control SageTV? When I press a button, nothing happens. With the default setup, SageTV has to have focus to work. There is also info in the FAQ about using it w/o needing focus.

Well, not sure what happened. I downloaded a new .ini file for the remote and all seems to be working now, except it still sits at 100% CPU.

Thanks for the reply.

Oh -- when you installed the new drivers, that reset the irremote.ini file; that's why you needed a new one.

As for the 100% cpu usage... someone else will probably have to handle that. The only thing I know to ask about the 350 is: Are you using the 350 for TV-out? If so, did you try enabling Hardware Decoding Only, in Detailed Setup -> Multimedia, so that simultaneous software decoding doesn't use the cpu? (See p. 136 in the v2.2 manual.)
