I wonder how long it will take networks to band together and come up with new standards like fade to black and cc - thus making it harder for programs to detect commercials, wonder if there is something in this bill preventing them from doing so.

My local CBS already does a fade from 5 second news spot to the show. That's a sound and video fade that is quite literally impossible to detect as a boundry.Jere

Client 1/Master BR - MediaMVP running a 30" Olevia LCD TV.
Client 2/Front Room - Shuttle ST61G4 XPC 1gig ram, 60gb HD, BTC9019 wireless keyboard/mouse & Harmony 880. 6.x client. GF6600GT driving a Sony WEGA 55" rear projection tv.

I would think if you can dectibe it so simply that you could detect it. Not as easily as a simple black frame I'm sure, but with some characteristic. Now cross fading would be impossible, but probably highly unattractive as well.

That's what I meant to say.

There are at least 10 frames that have a mixture of sound and video from NUM3ERS and the local news spot. I'll find a way... I'm sure of it.
