Problems with auto delete

I've never had auto delete actually delete anything until recently and it is not working. I have some of my favorites set to manual delete, and some set to auto delete. When the disk filled up, I found that all the auto delete shows were deleted from within Sage, but they are still in the video directory. They were never deleted from the directory.

Any ideas why? I would have thought that auto delete would not delete everything, but only enough to make the next recording. Is this correct?

Now I lost about 100Gb of recordings from within Sage, but they are still on the drive, so Sage cannot record any new shows.

How is this all supposed to work?

thanks,

I'm not sure why the file itself wouldn't actually get deleted, unless there is some permission issue that doesn't let it delete the file. Are they on a network & the share prevents deletions?

If it thinks it deleted the file, checks diskspace & finds it still needs more room, it will probably proceed to delete another file. At least, that seems to be what happens when something like Norton Protected Recycle Bin is running -- the file does get deleted, but since Norton keeps it around, the diskspace doesn't actually appear to be freed for use.

Maybe someone will have an idea about why the files are still there after being deleted, but I would still mention it to tech support if I were you -- it doesn't help if it keeps deleting many recordings w/o adding to the free space, so maybe there is some check that could be added to prevent that from happening.

Ok, it gets worse.

I have now deleted all the missing files from the hard drive, but sage still thinks there is no disk space to recored shows. How do I get it to look again? I checked the video directories and they are correct.

Secondly, the shows that still show up in Sage, and are still on the drive, cannot be played by Sage. Sage says that the file cannot be found on the drive. The details of the show specify the correct location for the files, but I cannot play any.

ideas?
