Editing a MPEG-2 File
I am using Sage TV (sage.tv) to record MPEG-2 videos.
Once I get a show, lets say the News, and I want to edit out certain things in Adobe Premiere Pro, I seem to having a lot of trouble doing this. When ever I load a MPEG-2 file into Adobe Premiere Pro, it freezes. The Files are usually about 2-5 Gigs in size. I was wondering if that had something to do with it. If anyone can think of any reason why this would happen, or if you know of a way to edit MPEG-2 recorded from Sage TV, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your assistance! Chaz |

Last I knew, Premier didn't like MPEG files. Video ReDo or Womble MPEG VCR will do waht you want (cut commercial) quickly and easily.

Humm, its true Premiere dosen't like MPEG-2 (copyright thing with DVDs I assume) but I haven't had Premiere freeze on me. Are you running the trial version or the full one? I ask because alot of times video editing programs limit the size of the file (input or output) in their trials. Anyway, Premiere stinks at editing MPEG-2s in general and, if you get it to work, you have to convert it to another format on saving which takes a year and a half
