Hauppauge PVR-150MCE Low Profile

Hi There,

I desperately need a low profile pci encoder card

Has anyone tried the Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150MCE l.p. ???

Does it work with sagetv?
Can it be setup as a network encoder with sagerecorder?

thanks.

It should work fine with sageTV, other than the pcb layout and size there is no difference between it and the regular 150. However, unfortunately it will not work with SageRecorder, 150/500 support was never added. If you have two SageTV full installs, one as your server and one as the client, with two individual license keys, you can run it as you desire.

With the two full SageTV installs you can share your client cards with the sageTV server and connect to the server in client mode.

two full SageTV installs

Thankyou very much.

I've purchased SageTV, SageTV Client, and SageRV Recorder. I hadn't heard about using two full SageTV installs. Will this setup utilize all the tuners in both systems? will the recording schedule be shared between the machines?

Thanks.

Yes, one full SageTV install will operate pretty much the same as a sagerecorder/sage client setup. And the other operates as the server.

BTW: There is some info on seting up a server to act as a client + network encoder here.

Network Encoder Help

Ok maybe this is obvious but it hadn't occured to me and I hadn't seen it in the instructions.

To get the network encoder to work at all, both versions of sageTV must be exactly the same.

I had tried 2.2.7 with 2.2.8 and couldn't get the two pcs to communicate.

I could see a "TIME_WAIT" status using netstat -a on the second pc but it never successfully connected until I upgraded my main install of SageTV to 2.2.8

Now I have a functional network encoder on pc #2 that is being used by pc #1.

The problem is sageTV on pc#2 shows no recordings or scheduled recordings.

Is there a setting I'm missing to have sagetv on pc#2 act as a client to pc#1????

thanks.
