Next Question?

Hello,
I have just downloaded Sage today and played with it to find My All-in-wonder doesn't work with it. That's OK. A few days ago I ordered a Hauppauge PVR 150 mce. Which as I understand it, is a hardware tuner. Now, as I read more on Sage, this system requirement page say's "Please note: The PVR-150, PVR-500, Plextor ConvertX, UltraTV PCI 500/550 and ProVideo 358T are not supported in SageTV Recorder and therefore cannot be used as networked encoders".

Does this mean I can't watch tv with the pvr-150 MCE from a laptop in another room with sage client? Or is the sage client like Beyond TV and just sending the video over the network via http?

I appreciate the help, if I can't use the pvr 150 mce, I will try to cancel the order and get something will. I really want to get away from Beyond TV.

SageTV Recorder is a different product. SageTV can use the 150. The client simply streams the video from the server, so yes you can use a client to watch TV via its connection to the server, where the 150 would be installed.

SageTVClient actually gives you the exact same interface as SageTV, but it can't control a tuner directly, thus its need to connect to SageTV to get the content.

Can I change the channel remotely [from say a laptop in kitchen running Sage Client] with the Sage server using the 150? That is all I care about. I want to be able to view stream [video] and be able to change the channel from laptop remotely.

Thanks again.

Yes, you can change the channel for live TV. Like I said, you can do nearly everything via the the client's UI that SageTV can do.

Just note that if you have only 1 tuner & 2 systems are watching live tv, neither one will be able to change the channel. ie: as long as the server isn't watch live TV too, your client can change channels.
