SageClient and LiveTV

It doesn't look like this is an option yet. But is there a way to watch live TV on a SageClient without recording the show?

My idea was to place all the Satellite boxes in one room on one maching and use SageClients in each additional room to watch TV.

Sorry this is really my last question.

You can watch a show 'live', but it will be a recording; that's just the way SageTV works: it always records what you are watching. For live tv, that just means you are watching it almost immediately after it was recorded.

If there are enough tuners to match all the clients, they can each watch a different live show, all streamed from the server. Or, they could all watch existing recordings; it doesn't have to be live.

Any watching of any Live TV anywhere, be it on a client or on the server is actually recorded to the hard drive. Sage takes care of cleaning up any files left over by Live TV. Your idea of of the Sage server in one room and clients everywhere will work fine. I have 3 clients and one server doing that now.

what happened to the livetv entry in the main menu.. at one point wasn't it also moved to the setup menu?! I'd quite like to be able to just go back to whatever is currently "live" without having to find it in the livetv guide first.

Maybe you are thinking of custom STVs that had a Live TV option on the Main Menu?

You can return to the currently playing video by using the Left arrow on the Main Menu.

For use on all menus even if there is nothing currently playing, you can look into the TV and/or the Live TV commands, both listed in the manual's list of commands, starting on p. 155 for v2.2.
