SageTV recognizes the MCE remotes via the keys or messages they send. For a list of Windows multimedia commands recognized, see p. 154 in the v2.2 manual.

See this MS site for info on the commands & keys the MCE remotes send. SageTV can use all but the WM_INPUT messages.

Or, you could use the MCE remote through Girder and probably use all the buttons.

MCE 2004 Remote

Is anybody successfully using an MCE 2004 remote with Sage? I have managed to get it to do the basic buttons (navigation/play/stop etc) which I believe are simply emulating keyboard events, but can't get girder to pick up any IR codes.

I grabbed the mce plugin for girder, but have been unable to get it to respond to anything other than key events.

Also, once I had installed the XP service pack drivers for the ir receiver (USB devices) I was unable to get it to upgrade the drivers to those provided with the mce plugin for girder.

Some help would be much appreciated.

That's assuming girder can even receive anything from the remote in the first place...

I use Girder with the MCE2004 remote and have no probs. I use Sage Client with the MCE2004 remote with some problems. Sage accepts the basic commands but not the more specific ones (like the guide button). Over at TGB, someone wrote a plugin for girder so you can even use the blaster. Haven't tried that yet. Theres a thread on it in this forum somewhere. There's also a thread over at Meedio's forum if you want more user experiences. I think someone over there posted their HID profile for it as well.

This is the plugin I am using. I uploaded it because its the one on my HD and I'm not sure if I'd be pointing you to the right one on Girder's website. BTW, by MCE2004 remote you mean the old Philips one right?
