MP3 Audio issues
Hi,
The other day, on my quest to convert my "kid" DVD collection to files so that my kids can watch movies without having to handle DVDs (my youngest likes to eject the DVDs from the slot loading DVD player and grab them), I installed a few apps in this quest... Gordian Knot, and later AutoGK.. AutoGK works great, converting my DVDs (almost) automatically to XVID with AC3 audio... Unfortunately, I noticed today that I can no longer play the Sesame Street episodes that I previously converted with Dr.Divx... These files have MP3 audio and are encoded in DIVX 5. I also have some XVID files that have MP3 audio, and they won't play either... (I get an app crash, asking if I want to send off info about the failure to Microsoft)... Anyhow, this is very annoying, as I only have about 5 episode of Sesame Street that are still in MPEG, and I think the kids are about tired of those episodes.. Everything worked prior to installing the apps listed above to be able to RIP DVDs... Any suggestions to clear up the MP3 audio issue? (Without backing out the DVD Ripping software..) Note too that it's not just Sage - Windows Media Player crashes out too when trying to play a file with MP3 audio. Paul |

Well, after posting this last night I decided to fix it... I did a system restore to get back to last Thursday... (I started installing other software on Friday to rip DVDs)..
Anyhow, I then reinstalled AutoGK and the AC3 Filter out of the Gordian Knot codec pack, and I'm in business... MP3 audio works again, and my DVD rips work too... Note, I did install Media Player 10 before performing this System Restore, and still had the same problem... So, if you run into this situation, System Restore appears to be your best friend...
