Is there a way to make client remember IP?

Hello All,

Is there a way (maybe in the .properties file??) to make the sagetv client remember the server address so I will not have to enter it everytime it starts?

Thanks,

Erik

Yes -- see pp. 16-17 in the v2.2 manual (found in your SageTV directory). It will show the option available in Detailed Setup -> General.

Hmmmm..... I'm having a similar problem. I dug up the client .properties file and tried both the IP and the network name for the computer, but the client either says it can't find it or that it's lost the connection and is attempting to reconnect (which it never does). Suggestions?

Is the server enabled in Detailed Setup -> Advanced? (See p. 9 in the v2.2. manual.)

Is that client's license already in use on another system? Was it previously in use elsewhere?

Is there a firewall that isn't allowing access?

(Or, did you mean that it only fails when set to automatically connect?)

Yup.

Nope. This machine is the only one it's ever been installed on.

When I first installed it, it worked fine. A week later it has stopped connecting. I've not changed anything. I run the XP firewall but that's it.

If the address is correct, I always thought this was caused by a licensing issue, a firewall/network access issue, or perhaps a version mismatch between the client & server. If restarting SageTV on the server doesn't do it, then I'm not sure what else would cause it.

Drop the XP firewall and see what happens. I have had some issues with it before and dropping it took care of the problem. Once you know what the problem is, it will be easier to solve.

Double check and make sure your server still has the same IP address. DHCP will lease and renew an IP and it seems like your problem started a week ago? It should keep the same IP in a renew but there's always that chance it changed. Go to a command prompt on the server and type ipconfig.
