Phantom self-adding recording device?
I was wondering if anyone had seen/heard of anything like this before. It's pretty strange... I'm running SageTV2.2.4 in Service mode on WinXP with Cayars17 STV.
I have two PVR-150s and a single digital cable box. I have analog cable going into both cards, and I have the digital cable box plugged into the s-video/audio inputs of card #1. I have three recording devices set up: 1: Card #1 tuner input 2: Card #1 s-video input controlled by USB-UIRT (only digital channels selected in channel setup) 3: Card #2 tuner input I recently went out of town on vacation for two weeks, and when I returned I noticed two things. First, on my upcoming recordings there were some bizarre channel numbers. Second, some of the shows that had been recorded while I was gone used some of these bizzare channel numbers, and the recordings were bad (blank video, sound from cable box). So, I go into Setup and I see that I have not three, but FOUR devices. In addition to the three above, there was a new device setup for composite input on card #1 using DirectTV as the lineup! So this explains the wierd channel numbers, and it also explains the bad recordings (nothing is hooked up to the composite input of card #1). So, I deleted the device and all is back to normal. Unfortunately, a couple of my shows did not record correctly. Anyone seen or heard of this? Thanks. Last edited by davin; 03-24-2005 at 12:43 PM. |

Is it possible that someone may have been banging around on the remote or keyboard while you were away?

Hm. I suppose it is possible... the cat may have walked on the keyboard. I guess that's the most logical explanation, but it seems bizarre that this specific outcome would happen... the system was at the main menu when I first woke it up when I got back.

Have you seen those new directTV ads were the TV come alive and seek out the satelite?? Maybe this is along the same lines...
