New Sage User -- question about imported pictures
I am new to Sage. Very enjoyable experience so far.
My problem: I have all my imported digital photes in F:\Photos. All viewable with Sage (approximately 12000 photos). No problem. Then, I wanted to completely replace my photos with a better organized set (improved folder structure, etc.). So (using Windows Explorer) I simply deleted the entire contents of F:\Photos. Then I loaded brand new contents into this folder. When I re-start Sage and go to view my newly loaded contents, SAGE freezes with a black screen. I cannot get Sage out of that state... except bt: ctrl-alt-delete and kill sSge from the Task Manager. I am guessing that Sage maintains state information from the previous contents of my /Photos folder, and is now confused by the new contents. I also assume I need to delete some information from a Sage state file... somewhere. I would be most grateful if one of you Sage veterans could tell me how to straighten this out. PS: This forum is fantastic. It is one of the reasons I selected Sage for my HTPC. Thanks!

Did you Refresh media Libraries? Not sure why this would create a freeze though. Also, did you delete the CONTENTS of F:\Photos or did you delete the Photos folder as well and replace with something else?

You might want to try renaming your current Photos folder and creating a new blank folder named "Photos". Then go into Sage and select Refresh Media Libraries. Go back to photos and there should be nothing there. Delete the blank Photos directory and rename your new directory back to Photos and try refreshing again.
Also, with that many photos, it may take a while to index all of them starting from scratch. You may want to wait a little bit before trying to access the folder, or if it seems to freeze again, let it sit for a few minutes and see if anything happens... I have no clue though... never used the photo library... =) -Dan |

I use it, and my photo library is 9GB, when I first set it up it and refreshed media library, it saw it right away. It takes forever when building thumbnails but you have to tell it to do that. and even then, it has a progress dialog box letting you know it's still working.
