Odd MCE Remote Problem

I'm using a MCE remote in conjunction with Girder to control Sage. I've got my small skip time set to 30 sec forward/10 sec backward, and the big skip is 150 sec forward/30 sec backward.

My problem is that when I hit the FF and REW buttons on my remote (which are mapped to do the big skip), it seems to do both a big skip and a little one, so going forward it jumps 180 sec, backwards it jumps 40 sec.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

This is because Sage also recognizes the keys from the MCE Remote. When you FF girder does it command and sage does its. You need to stop one or the other from occurring.

aperry,

if its an mce 2005 remote you can fix this by downloading the new mce plugin from the promixis website:
http://www.promixis.com/downloads.ph...er&lucCode=800

its the top item on the download menu, after you unzip it, take a look at the readme, it has a replacement driver for the remote that you can install, this will make only girder responsive to button presses.

I tried what you suggested, but now, both the fast forward and skip forward buttons go 30 seconds. I had hoped that one of the buttons would wind up doing the long skip.

I'm gonna try the new driver now, and see if that helps.

Well, I got the new mce plugin loaded. It was a bit of a pain to teach each of the buttons what IR code I wanted it to do.

My next step will be to have it learn the codes for my cable box, so that it can change channels through the blaster.

Just gotta figure out if I can do recording via the firewire port or not. I know it works and (as of a couple of weeks ago) is not encrypted, so I just have to figure out what it will take to get it to record. Otherwise, if necessary, I can pull it via S-Video and audio cables.
