Video Cable Length??
Anybody know how long of a run a SVGA monitor cable can go before it has signal degredation, how many extensions it can dasy chain. I have a projector and have it hooked up to the monitor out of my video card. The computer and projector are on the opposite sides of the room.
Another question is do you know of any converters from one cable type to another for longer runs. I have heard of converters to networking cable for some video signals, just don't remember which. Mike |

I had 5, 15 foot monitor cables strung together at one point. No signal degredation.

Or you could just get a good VGA cable for about half the price:

I use a 50ft vga cable, I haven't noticed any problems. Best to avoid connecting cables together.
You can make a long vga, or component, or even a component to vga if that's what you're projector uses...all from cat5: http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/vgacable.html I have no experience with it, but sounds promising... |

Ben,
That does sound interesting. part of the problem is that we arent able to fit the vga cable through the floor. a cat5 would do nicely. this is for in a meeting room at work, going through the concrete floor and over to the wall. We did order the adapters I found but will probably try the DIY cables too. Mike |
