sage DVD playback error

i have tried several configurations, but i get the same error every time. this was working recently. the error is:"There was a DVD Error in playback. Details: sage.playbackException: Error (-9,0x80040276): The operation is currently not allowed for this DVD."

i can play the DVD in zoomplayer w/ ffdshow and in WinDVD. I cannot get anything but a black screen and that error with any of the following in sage: overlay renderer, vmr9, Intervideo NonCSS codec, ffdshow (same config that works in ZP), or the default Sage DVD codec.

this last worked before i joined this machine to my domain, and had to switch to a new user profile. everything else is working fine though. i may simply use ZP and ffdshow, but i can get the ffdshow quality i want inside of sage then i'd prefer to do that.

any ideas?

thanks,
big boi

Does that happen right away when you play a DVD, or after you press a button?

initially it was happening only after i tried to get to a menu or skip to the next chapter. now it does it a few seconds after the player brings up a blank screen.

I used to see this all the time. The problem was that the DVD's prevented you from jumping to the title menu, or to the movie - they locked out those actions until the copyright notice, FBI warning, previews, etc. had finished.

Once I installed AnyDVD, all that BS went away. WELL worth the money, for more reasons than just that.

i'm pretty sure i had the "skip DVD menus" setting in sage disabled when i was trying this, but i may have changed it. i'll recheck this. thanks for the tip.
