Question motorola DCT2224 digital cable box

Hi everybody !
i was wondering if there was any mod or conversion that i can do on my motorola DCT2224 cable box which is collecting dust on my desk since i'v quit cable for about two years ago.
so i can use it as an fta sat receiver.
please if anyone know how post infos on forum so we can all learn.

I'm going to guess that there is no way to convert a DCT2224 into a FTA receiver. You might want to try looking on some FTA sat sites, but I'm still going to go and say it's not possible.

Does your DCT2224 have the ability to send power to a LNB, nope. Does it have the ability to send the signals via voltage to change a LNB's polarity, nope. Does it know ho to change transponders, nope. There's too many things that it doesn't have, and even if you had a bios that you could hack to do it, the physical hardware isn't present to do that.

You'd be better of getting a FTA PCI card for your PC, or a FTA satellite reciever.
Basically if you don't have your cable box activated, and connected to your local provider, it's pretty much useless.
