Problem changing channel with Cayars STV

Ok, I'm using a single tuner system (PVR-150MCE) with the latest SageTV and Cayars17. Don't have a remote yet, so right now i'm just using the mouse to control it. When i go to the program guide and click on a show it goes to the next menu where I can choose between watch, record, Airings etc...

I cannot choose "watch now" - it doesn't seem to respond, doesn't change the channel or anything. Yet if I click on record, it will tune to the other channel - but doing this adds it to my recorded programs. Is this the way it's supposed to work? The original sage STV allows me to click on watch now w/o a problem.

I can tune the channel up with the scroll button on my mouse with either STV w/o having to add it to my recorded programs list. Am I doing something wrong or missing a setting?

I use a serial cable to control my Directv D10-100 receiver. Sagetv can control my D10 receiver with other STVs, however, I cannot change channels with Cayars17. In particular, when I click on watch tv nothing happens. I have not tried clicking on record- I decided to use a different STV.

Ahhh, very interesting - that's exactly what I'm using, A D10-100 with serial control. Odd that it tunes when I channel up or down, or clicking on record - Yet from "watch now" it is just unresponsive.

Maybe Cayars just doesn't like the D10 receivers

I use a 500MCE and have the same problem. I have a Samsung DTV receiver that I control with serial and analog cable with no cable box, and both do exactly the same thing. That is using the latest Sage and Cayars 17. If you read through the big Cayars thread, there are a few more people that have reported this as well. Channel changing works fine if I use a remote (Streamzap) to manually key in the channel.

Well that at least makes me a little happier, knowing that it's not just me.... Maybe version 18 will fix this!

Easy work arounds to this is either:

1. hit "enter" twice while the show is highlighted in the Live TV guide and not left mouse click it. Video menu has to be enabled:
Deatiled Setup -> Multimedia -> Video Menu Options -> Display Video on Menus (If Active)
and/or
2. If you do not use any NON-Native file types, then disable it in the External setup portion of Detailed Setup. and the "Watch Now" will work.

And if you do use an external video player for non native files (Like *.mp4), than DO NOT upgrade to any of the 18 versions...

No Problem. Glad to help out.

I just wish Cayrs would give us an idea as to what's up with the "Watch Now" issue, It seems like there are quite a few people having this issue and want a fix.

I know he has a lot of catching up to do...So maybe soon.

This is still broken for me. I have tried both suggestions and neither solves my problem

Recording of shows that need to use an external tuner do not work. If I switch to Original2, everything works correctly.

I have the following sources... Analogue channels are tuned by Hauppauge 150 - works
Digital channels tuned via Hauppauge 150 blaster and input via S-Video - not working
HDTV channels tuned and captured via UNE (SGraphRecorder) - Works.

Switching off Cayers 17, everything works, but no extra features.

Hold On. I switched to Original2. Rebooted. Tested - all ok. Switched to Cayers17 - all still OK. Must be nothing wrong or needed to restard Sage Service.

And then a little while later it broke again. Something is definately wrong here. I can get it to kind of work, but once it breaks, I have to stop and start the SageTV service - switching back to Original doesn't fix it until I restart the service. Before installing Cayers17, I never had this problem.

additional things to try!

i did the same thing as above and had no success.. mouse would not let me choose channel, until i hit record..

i had accidently setup External Video Player = Enabled.

once i changed to disabled, no probs.. what a silly mistake on my part..

peace

At the moment I press record first, then watch now to bypass this problem. I will try out your solutions later today..

Cheers,
