Static line on top of screen
I am not sure if this is a recorder issue or a hardware issue...
On my Haupague 250 I had 1-2 shows that got a staticy white line on the top of the screen. I never did figure out what it was, it jsut went away. It never showed on live TV, only recording. My avermedia 1500 just finished recording it's first show and it has the same staticy white line on the top. Any idea what it is or how to get rid of it? I could jsut hop it goes away again *shrug* |

I think you may be refering to the something to do with the closed captions... not sure of this, maybe someone else can chime in.

As of yet I have not done anything with CC, that I know of. I read that Sage currently does not support them so I never even looked for them.

I used to get that. I believe it is extra data for stuff like CC and SAP. What aspect ratio are you using? I get it if I use "source" aspect ratio. If I use "fill", it gets cut off.

I can confirm that the staticy lines at the top are the closed caption data. If you turn on the "InsertCCInDVD" registry key then the Hauppauge drivers will cut that section off and you won't be able to see it.
As an added side bonus, Sage will then support CC's and they can be used to more accurately detect commercials (if you choose to do so). Jere

i am VERY interested in moer accurate commercial detection (thanks jere). i set cc_option_enabled to true in sage.properties and the InsertCCInDVD reg key is set to 1 (on). i restarted sage but still got no CC data when i did comskip. i DO get staticy lines though. does the hauppauge MCE 500 support CC information?
thanks |

I think you need to restart your machine after editing the cc_option_enabled registry setting. Not sure though. MCE500 does not support CC.
