Newbie questions; TV out?
I have not made a purchase yet...
I want to get Sage TV and a card, but my main purpose is to display it on my regular TV, not so much on my PC. Do I have to use a particular card to do this or will all cards to this? I have a standard no frills TV from 4 years ago, seems to have a lot of plugs in the back. Will the remote capable cards only work with the Computer? or if I'm able go out to a TV will I see it functioning on the TV? i.e. menus, program guide, etc. I guess what I'm really asking is whether I can use this system with my TV just like I was hooking up a TIVO type system? Separate question; I can also see the advantage to of using the client software. Could I use that to send a show to my Tablet PC? Thanks, JK |

With the exception of the Hauppauge 350 (which I wouldn't suggest you get), all the tuner cards are input-only: you just use them to record.
For the most versatile output (many video ormats, Windows desktop, etc), a good video card would be the thing to use to output to your TV. I don't know what card you currently have, but if you are looking for a new video card, there are several "what's the best video card?" discussions in this (Hardware Support) forum. - Andy
