Why won't sage record both regular/hdtv under one "favorite"???

I am finally starting to use favorites...

but discovered that I have to setup seperate favorites if I want SageTV to record both the regular programming of a show and the HD version of a show....

for instance Alias, there is a regular and an HD version aired in tandem, when I set up the favorite for it, SageTV only recorded one of the channels and not both, even though I set the favorite to record the show on "any channel"

So why won't SageTV record all airings of a show when the favorite is setup to record any channel!?? Is this a limitations to "Favorites"??

note: for all you HD seekers, I am using PVR250s/cable boxes to record HD content which I suppose is not "TRUE" HD, but is good enough for me...

I guess since the episode ID would be the same Sage probably figures why should I record the same program on at the same time on 2 different channels. I would think it looks for the first one it can find. WOrks as designed as far as I can see.

... and if the IDs are the same, you could force it to record the HD airing by limiting the fav to that channel.

Hmmm... on the other hand, if you go to that fav & view Additional Airings, does it show the airings from both channels? If not, then it sees the shows as being completely different, so you would need another fav to catch the other channel.

when I set up only one fav, it does see all the episodes (reg & HD) but only records the first episode version it sees, so if the reg is first in the list, it's the one the gets recorded and vice versa... so both of you are right

I have already setup seperate reg favs and HD favs... so the situation is fixed, just thought there may have been a simpler method...

FYI I record both versions because if one of the recordings fails/messes up, then I have the other to watch

Now I'm curious... does it actually schedule & record both shows this way and both airings have the exact same title & episode ID? Even though you now have them listed as separate favs, I thought it would see that they have the same ID and still schedule only one. But, since they are on at the same time & neither one has yet been recorded, maybe they both get scheduled. I feel like I'm looking for the corner in a round room...
