directv

I have a direct tv sony sat-b50 reciever that has a serial output that says low speed data and vcr control. I tried running sage with the option of using serial dtv control in the setup. That didnt work. I also tried the direct tv control program. That didnt work either. I can see the tv output but can not change channels. Is there something else that I must do in order to make it so I can control the direct tv box with the pc software? I made sure to set the correct com port and everything.

Also if I can not get this to work im going to get some sort of blaster software for it.... whats the best software/hardware device to control channels that you could buy from like a best buy or compusa store?

Thanks everyone.

chances are it is the serial cable. Different serial cables have different pin-outs. You have to have a direct pass through serial cable. I think a serial mosue extension cable would do the trick nicely.

It might also be as simple as turning it on. On my DTV box, the serial out was set by default to home control. I had to go into the setting and set it to slow speed serial.
