Question SAGE command defaults

I just installed my USBUIRT and all seems fine, but when I went to program the IR codes in sage for my remote, I made the mistake of using the codes for my TV. I went back thinking that if I OVERWROTE the wrong code I would be fine. Now most functions have two codes associated with them.

I tried to manually unlink the codes, but I think I botched the whole thing up, by also deleting the default keyboard strokes.

I read the manual and did a search for default ir commands, but came up empty. Can anyone please point me on how to set the default keyboard, so I can start over?

Thank you

I need to reset my commands to the defaults as well. I just got my USBUIRT, and it was picking up stray signals when learning, so I have a ton of "junk" IR codes in there. It would be great to have a way to revert everything, as well as reverting single commands, to default.

The quickest way to reset all commands is to delete the properties file while SageTV is closed, but then you have to reconfigure everything else that was in it.

Hmmm... Or, exit SageTV, save a copy of your old properties file, then delete it, restart SageTV, let the new properties file get created, exit SageTV, save a copy of the new prop file, and then restore the old prop file. I think you want the keyboard_accelerators= line for the default keys from the new prop file, but I'm not completely certain about that. Copy that line to the old prop file & restart SageTV.

For individual commands, the manual lists the default keys for each command that has a default key setting. See p. 155 in the v2.2 manual.

All remote commands can be reset/cleared by removing all the ui/rc_mappings/XXX properties lines.

For clearing individual commands, use Detailed Setup -> Commands -> Unlink Infrared/Keystroke from SageTV Command. Just the single IR code/keystroke entered will be cleared.

Thanks, I'll check on the properties lines.

Regarding clearing individual commands, this isn't always possible. I have several command that ended up with 8+ IR codes, none of which I can reproduce to clear them. Like I said, the reciever was picking up a lot of garbage. I'll probably end up having to just clear everything and start over.

Similar problem last week when I was playing with the remote. Selectively clearing the rc_mappings let's you clean up commands that are buggered pretty quickly. They are pretty easy to spot in the properties file. There probably should be an option in Sage to reset IR codes.

In the 'old' days, this process was pretty ugly. Now it works slick.

Thanks Opus4,
I'll try the suggestions when I get home.

I'm surprised at how easy it was to screw it all up. A restore feature like glbrown mentioned would be a welcome addition.

Opus could I ask when you refer to deleting theui/rc_mappings/XXX properties lines do you mean the entire line or just the codes that appear after the = sign? I tried deleting the codes after shutting down sage and the sage service sure enough it is blank after the = sign in the properties file however when you go into the actul setup if IR commands in Sage it still shows multiple IR codes associated with a button eventhough it is blank in the properties.

When using service mode, the UI uses sageclient.properties, so you'll have to remove those lines from that file instead.
