Help! Sage client won't run, nada, nothing
Sage client had been working fine since I installed it 7-8 months ago. I upgraded my Nero 6 Ultra Edition Software and it installed a new version of the their MM player, Vision Express 3 which a had a media server of sorts called mediasource, I ended up screwing around with my Wireless "G" network to get the Nero Media source to work and totally fubarred my wireless Network and the client could no longer connect to the server.
After much screwing around, initially the Sage client worked again but on reboot it didn't. I decided to start from scratch and downloaded the latest version of the client, uninstalled the old one and the Frey directory and installed the new one. Now if I click on the Nero icon or even directly on the .exe nothing happens except an hourglass appears for a fraction of a second, no error messages or anything the program will just not open. Have tried older versions of the client, done many uninstal/reinstalls with different client releases, done a system restore back to before I had the network issues, nothing works. Help me! I loved having the ability to catch the news (actually Simpsons reruns ) on my home office PC. The Machine running Sage TV is a Blackbird bundle with P4 .24, Intel 850 chipset 512 of RDRAM, 9700 Pro is on 24/7 and has been pretty much problem free since the day I installed Sage. The client machine with the problem is a P4.3.2 Northwood, Intel 875 chipset 1024 of DDR and a X800 XT PE and had been fine until last week. Both machines are running XP Pro. |

One part of your post confused me "Now if I click on the Nero icon or even directly on the .exe ..."
Did you mean the Sage Client icon? If so then see my advice below. Perhaps try uninstalling your Java install and then downloading the latest one and see if that helps. If that doesn't work a more drastic method would be to get rid of any Frey Technologies or SageTV references that exist in your registry after uninstalling the Client then rebooting and reinstalling. |

Just a wild guess, as far as I know, your sage client version must match your sagetv version... for the client to run properly
to clarify: sagetv 2.2.1 will work with sage client 2.2.1 and so on

I had done the registry cleanup a while back but hey, the Java fix worked! Thanks, I would never have thought of that, I have had so few problems with Sage that troubleshooting it was new to me. I am running the same client and server versions. It is so nice to have it back.
