PVR-350 svid in, poor PQ, WinTV good
Hi all
I've been happily enjoying my sage setup for a few months now, but the one thing I was lacking was having my UIRT integrated properly (and therefore have my digital cable setup integrated with Sage(. So, that done, I'm a happy camper. Except. My PQ is very washed out, and I get some color .. banding (looks like RGB to me..( I would say it's the cabling, BUT, when I use WinTV, it seems to auto-correct and the output comes out looking fine. (I should note, this is composite out of my digital cable box, going to the svid in via the converter the 350 ships with(. Any thoughts???? thanks Cory |

one more piece of info
actually I lied, WInTV tv-out output isnt quite perfect, it seems to go back and forth between normal (well, a little bit too much red( , and people's faces being bright green.
In any case, the Sage output / recording of svid in is poor, looking mostly washed out, with a slight RGB banding (ie: some red tint, some green tint some blue tint, horizontally across the screen.. but mostly everything is just grey and the PQ itself is quite low. Can anyone help? I havent used svid before... thanks Cory |

Here are a few things to try.
First verify if it's an input or an output problem by viewing the video on your computer monitor and the 350's output to a TV at the same time. If it looks right on the computer than it's an output problem. If they both look the same, it's an input problem. If it's an output problem, check the video breakout dongle and make sure it's secure. I've had problems with mine coming loose now and again creating color problems or simply going black and white. If that doesn't work, check the color settings on your TV. If there's still a problem, it may be in the 350 hardware. Go through the input options to be sure. For an input problem, first check what input you've chosen in software. In Sage's source set up it should list a few. With my 350 I had to set it to composite_2 . (BTW your input is composite not S-video even when you're using that adapter). If you're still having input problems, try the source calibration controls to see if you can correct them there. (Stanger89 wrote a guide on the Wiki that can walk you through that.) After that if you're still having problems it may be a hardware issue with your 350. Hope that helps, and good luck. |
