Controlling sagetv with logictech harmony 680 remote

Hello,

Please excuse my lack of knowledge but I am newbie in the PVR world. I would like to control my sagetv using the harmony remote I purchased.

I have the following hardware/software

Logitech Harmony H680
USB-UIRT
Girder software installed
SageTV 2.1

My question is how do I get them to work together to control my sagetv setup?

Please help. Thanks

Are you going to use it with a cable/satellite box?

If not, then this is how to get the Harmony and USB-UIRT to play nice (no Girder needed):

To get USB-UIRT to work without a box you should just be able to:

1. go to Setup > Detailed Setup > Commands > Infrared Receiver Port for IRMan/UIRT.
2. select "USB"
3. Back to Commands menu
4. select "Link Infrared/Keystroke to SageTV Command"

This is in the SageTV manual, starting on page 144.

BTW...getting it to work with a cable box is also in the manual.

what remote are you currently using to control sage?

Take that remote, and go to the harmony setup site. Create a new PVR attached to your system, and a new activity that uses it. Setup the ins and outs of your A/V hardware so that everything sets up properly when you hit the activity.

Now, you have to go to the commands detail of the new sage device, select all the commands you want to program, then 'learn all'. You might also have to create new commands (or custom commands) for some things, ie: i created ones for like/dislike/watched/ and full screen.

Then take your previous remote, and aim it at the back of the harmony remote while it's plugged in (follow the on-screen directions, they should be self-explanitory) and start giving it the commands the software asks for.

When you're done, update your harmony remote, and test it - rise - repeat as necessary.

I think I posted on this once...try a search for more detailed explanation and proper command names, I'm going from memory, so most are probably wrong.

Edit: I did post this once before:

Let me know if there's anything else you need to know.
