Trouble with nVidia decoders

Troubleshooting a Sage problem (occasional freezes), I uninstalled my nVidia decoders and then reinstalled them. Now, TV playback works fine (don't know about the freeze problem, too soon to tell). But DVD playback is all fouled up. Playback is ridiculously choppy, and the Windows task manager reveals that CPU usage is 100%, with System Idle Process occupying 99% of the CPU. It's not a Sage problem per se, since it happens in Windows Media Player as well. But I was hoping some smart folks here might know why this is happening. Any ideas?
