That's where your 52 comes from. After telling my string to number code to assume the number is in base 10 instead of automatically deciding, it works fine.

The new version is up that corrects the issue. It's in the beta downloads section of Dragon Global.

I have written and posted a file to create shortcuts in the beta downloads section of Dragon Global.

To use it, you will need to add it as a processor and add a command line option of:

-folder D:\Shortcuts\

Change D:\Shortcuts\ to the folder that you want to contain the shortcuts.
Put "shortcut" in the first "Does not exist" block.
Add the folder that you want to contain the short cuts to the list of directories on the Global Settings page.
Add lnk and shortcut to the target extensions on the Global Settings page.

The ShortcutMaker program will create two files:

The shortcut in the "shortcut" directory.
A .shortcut file in the same directory as the source file.

Both will be deleted if the source file is deleted.

I hope this meets your needs.

Ok, just getting started using this.

I noticed it does not seem to delete the VPRJ files that are orphaned nwhen COMSKIP runs (if you enable that option).

Can it be made to do this?

I am trying to use DirMon for the first time and I am not clear on the configuration setttings. I am attaching two screenshots, one for the global settings and the other for processor1.

I tried running DirMon and it runs comskip.exe on a mpg file over and over, never succeeding.

I would eventually like to run DirMon on a separate networked computer that does not have SageTV installed, to reduce the CPU load for the comskip.exe processing.

That should be fine, I've got:
Does Exist: mpg OR [empty]
AND
Does Not Exist: txt OR vprj

Actually I bet the AND in the "Does Not Exist" is causing the problem. Perhaps it's getting thrown by the "AND nothing".

The other thing is make sure there's actually a txt file for the mpegs that are scanned.

Thanks for the effort, Jere. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work. When I drop a file into the source folder, nothing happens. There's no shortcut in the shortcut folder. Below are screenshots of how I set it up, let me know if there's anything wrong with it. Thanks.

It looks like it is set up fine. Although if you want it to delete the .lnk after the source file is gone, you need to add the shortcut folder to the directory list.

The file that you are dropping into the source folder: is it an mpg file?

Assuming that is it, can you post or send me your ini file?

Added D:\Shortcut to Directory List. Still nothing happens when I drop an mpg file into the D:\Source folder. By the way, if I want all extensions besides mpg, do I put asterisk (*) in the source extensions?

For anyone using ShortcutMaker:

There seems to be a problem with the compressor that I used. I have replaced ShortcutMaker on DragonGlobal with an uncompressed version.

Redownload and try again.

replaced with new 224k ShortcutMaker.exe. Older one was about 81k.
Anyway, still not working for me. Any other ideas?

Negative. You need to list them all, seperated by a comma.

I replaced my Dirmon.ini with yours and put the appropiate files and directories in place and ran it. It didn't work. I then tried with an uncompressed ShortcutMaker. It worked. Quickly.

Have you verified that they are .mpg and not .lnk files? The easiest and most certain is to look at the size. Shortcut's aren't 800 megabytes.

hmm, I thought I replied to this thread but my message is not here.

Anyway, Jere, its working now. I just changed the "Check every" to 1 second and it performs the shortcut operation now. I noticed it doen't work on folders, is it possible to add folder support so that if a folder appears in D:\Source that it will also create a shortcut in D:\Shortcuts also?
