error code on play

Still trying to get things to work but when I attempt to play a file (any file) I get the following message: Playback exception error (-4,0X80040217)

any idea what this is telling me? I have loaded and reloaded so many times I've lost count but at least it is working on the TV even if the if the quality of the picture is terrible. One thing at a time. it will all come together.
