can a USB PVR and PVR-250 coexist with USB 1.1?
My htpc is a little dated (Celeron 1.3 Ghz/512 megs of ram) but still does great for what I like it to do. I am running SageTV with a PVR250 perfectly. However, I have numerous times where there are two shows that I need to record at the same time so I am in need of another tuner. Since I only have one PCI slot left I would like to use a USB receiver but I am trying to do this on a budget. Is USB 1.1 good enough because that is all my mobo has? Is there a particular USB receiver that works well here? Does it have to be a USB2 to be stable?

According to Hauppauge website WinTV-PVR USB2 will work on usb 1.1 with max recording of 6Mb/s vs 12Mb/s if run on usb2.0 port.

Yep it does!
I have such a setup.
As posted before, you are limited regarding recording quality. But it does work, although windows xp from time to time reports, that usb2 hardware has been connected to an usb1 port and this may lead to problems. this doesnt affect the functionality, its just kind of disturbing, if you have sage running in fullscreen mode

Thanks guys. I guess I am still confused either about the model numbers ot whether I can use one of the older USB (without USB2) effectively or not. For instance, I see this model 881 on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...165390821&rd=1 Would this unit work effectively or is it essential that it is USB2? Thanks again. ishtarbgl Last edited by ishtarbgl; 02-19-2005 at 07:42 AM. |

No Sage does not support the WinTV PVR-USB (881), only the WinTV PVR-USB2 (model 941)
