Unhappy playing dvds from the hard drive

I was wondering if it is possible to play dvd movies that are stored on the hard drive, as described in Appendix I of the SageTVV2_1Manual.pdf through SageTV Client 2.1.

I can't seem to get this to work, while other mpeg movies/shows, and livetv, can be viewed through SageTV Client 2.1 without any problems.

I know that wathcing DVD's from the servers' DVD-ROM Drive is not supported but what about DVD's stored on the hard drive?

When I try to watch the DVD which is stored on the hard drive, I get the following error:

There was a Playback Error in playback. Details: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-3,0x80070057): There was a problem accessing the filesystem for playback.

Anyone know if this is possible.

Yes, but the files need to be accessible, by the client, at the exact same path as on the server. Ie if they're at d:\DVDs on the server you'll have to map a drive so that they're available via d:\DVDs on the client.

An easier way is to just use UNC naming, eg make a share \\server\DVDs and add that to your library import dir and both should be able to access it just fine.

FWIW, I belive the need for this is because the "non-video" files that are associated with DVDs (.ifo, .bup, etc), they can't be streamed like MPEGs can so the client needs direct access.
