Help: SageTV Client stuttering

Don't know why, but my SageTV Client started stuttering for all playbacks (live & recorded)?? I've reviewed all of the previous threads and none of the solutions offered seems to work.

Here's what I know:

1) My SageTV server works just fine, I can record and playback live and recorded shows with no problems.
2) Up until 2 weeks ago the client worked just fine, don't know what changed.
3) If I map to the SageTV server from my client and playback with an external player (e.g. PowerDVD, MediaPlayer, etc.) I experience no stuttering.
4) I've raised my NumBuffers settings to 512 - no effect
5) I've increase my client RAM to 1GB RAM
6) I'm connected to the network with 100MB link
7) Currently using Cayars 17 STV
8) Uninstalled the client v2.1 and reinstalled - still stuttered
9) Now running on Beta v2.2.5 w/ STV still stuttering

Anyone who can offer some insight would be greatly appreciated. I really want to play my shows within the client so I can take advantage of the Comskip features.

TIA

If the client used to work, but doesn't work now... what has changed on either PC? Any playback settings changed? Any software recently installed or updated on either system? Does it work on the client if you use the default STV and don't use any add-ons, including comskip?

Lightbulb Help: SageTV Client stuttering - resolved

Thanks Andy for replying back, nice to know that someone cares!!

Here's how I resolved the problem:

Although I tried to reinstall v2.1 the first time I did I didn't remove the SageTV subdirectory - uninstall leaves this directory intact. When I tried v2.2.5 I found it introduce more "buggy" issues - mostly to do with the menus. After posting the question, I decided to go back to v2.1 but this time I removed (actually renamed) the SageTV directory to ensure that it would be a clean install. I also downgraded the server as the v2.1 client will not work with a v2.2.5 server but didn't rename the directory there. The SageTV server came up fine and continued recording whatever programs were suppose to be recording at the time. As for the client, I went for broke and also reinstalled the Cayars v17 STV and ta da, the playback works fine -- no more stuttering. Now it's time to sit back and enjoy

Thanks,
Scott
