New to Sage and can't change the channel
Hello -
I've been trying sage for about 72 hours now, and it's a rocky start. (I'm using the 15 day v2.1 demo). It seems that the first night - after playing with the setup for a total of an hour, things worked great. I could watch live TV, pause, flip channels, etc. Then I went to bed and shut down the CPU for the night. Mistake #1. When I got home from work the next day, I couldn't seem to change channels. I tinkered with it for a few hours, and ended up reformatting the disk to try again. I thoght I had it fixed with the fresh install of XP and Sage. It seemed to work fine for an hour or so tonight. Now I can't change the channel again. I can either "Pg-up" or go to the EPG to select a new show, but neither works. The OSD changes to the new show, but I just get a freezeframe of the last channel right when I changed the channel. Sometimes if I go to the EPG and hit record (vs watch now) I can see that sage is recording to the disk. Other times it isn't. I updated the Tv tuner DLL that was mentioned in another post (to the Nov 04 version), but it didn't help. I'm running a PVR350 and Sage v2.1 (current demo version). I'm not using the TVout, but watching it on the computer screen (with my admitidly cheap PCI video card.) Any thoughts on this? thanks Matt edit: I should add that I'm using analog cable directly connected to the 350 from the wall. Also, if I try the WinTV2000 program, things work perfectly. No problems changing channels. Last edited by matt91; 02-12-2005 at 11:29 PM. Reason: update |

Hi
I had a lot of the same problems in the beginning. At first i looked for the latest drivers for my card, but that didn't help. In the end it had to do with my mpeg decoder settings. I used a number of different decoders, but at this moment i'm using the sage decoder that comes with the 2.2.3 beta version. You can try that as well...it is in the beta testing section of this forum. You can try and see if it helps. It solved all my problems and Sagetv is running smooth here. However, a week ago i tried to use the nvidia decoder again (it is supposed to be the best, judging opinions here) but i couldn't get it to work like the sage decoder does. Don't ask me why, it simply doesnt'. So, if i were you i'd try the latest beta and use the default sage decoder. Good luck....... it's worth the effort, Sagetv is a very nice program! Henk99
