Anyone know the Video/Audio encoding setting behind "Great 3GB per hour" etc?
I am trying to find out what the encoding settings are for video and audio for the DVD quality settings in Sage.
For Video, I am looking for Kps and for audio I am looking for Khz and Kps. Does anyone know what thery are for, say, the Great - 3GB per hour setting? Does Sage use Constant Bitrate or Varaible? Maybe they use Variable for the ones that have the "~" sign before them, becaue when you use variable you don't really know? Please help! |

Best works out to near 3GB/hr for most of the hour shows I watch. DVD Standard could be a little more or less because it is VBR.

Thanks for the reply, one more ?
Thanks Cy. Here is the text from the sage.properties. How do I know if they are using VBR or CBR? Do I assume CBR since there is only one kps number?

The ~ vs. the -
I am assuming the ~ indicates VBR and the - indicates CBR. If this is the case, how do I know the two parameters for the VBR settings?

VBR is used with the DVD profiles
and CBR is used with the MPEG Profiles not sure about the VCD or SVCD profiles since I never use them recordings are too blocky for them for me |

Thanks KNY
So for the DVD profiles, is that number the peak bitrate? If so, what is the low end rate?

For v2.1 & later, check the mmc/python2_encoding property lines for the full settings details; the seeker/recording_qualities lines shouldn't be needed any more. The settings with vbr=1 are variable.
Also, here's and older post with an old quote about the settings. - Andy
