ATI AIW Radeon 7500 - capable of DXVA and HWMC?

Does anyone know if my video card (listed in thread topic) is capable of the DXVA and HWMC mentioned the thread below?

Thanks.

Yup.

And made a huge difference on my machine by enabling the support (using the same video card).

Any idea why I can't use them? I made the registry change long ago.

Jeff told me that the "test" is to try to switch to Mode "A" under the DirectX Video Acceleration Settings and if an error pops up, it's not working. I get an error as soon as I send Sage to sleep, then try to watch live TV.

Furtermore, is there any reason to switch the Mode or Interlacing settings? Do you need to, in order to use the acceleration, or do the default settings use it as well?

BTW, my CPU usage (on a Pentium IV 1.8 GHz) never goes above, say, 15% to 18% during playback, even while both tuners are recording. Maybe this means the hardware acceleration is working.

The purpose of all this, is I'm still having trouble with a sporadic and slight stutter that I'm not sure at all Sage has anything to do with.

Thanks.

I can now confirm I've been using the two hardware acceleration tweaks all along.

Not sure what Jeff meant though (I get an error message every time I try switching the Mpeg Mode from default).

But my CPU usage is down around 12% while recording with both tuners and watching a show with the two registry tweaks, whereas it jumps to 55% without the tweaks.

Thanks.

Cool. I use the full blown Intervideo codecs fromtheir 'X Pack'. When these codecs are installed they automatically enable the hardware acceleration (at least they always have on my machines).

When I purposely turned off the acceleration to test, I saw much higher CPU numbers (like you did).

The Intervideo codecs are still my favorite.
