Clearing DirecTV OSD

When changing channels in Sage, the OSD from my DirecTV box shows up and hangs around for 5 seconds. I have been trying to get this to clear but haven’t had any luck.

I have a USB-UIRT set up to do the channel changing. I need to send two commands after changing the channel to clear the OSD. First, I need to send an OK command to get it to change channel, then, I need to send an EXIT command to clear the OSD. I see that you can set one learned command as the "Channel Change Confirm Code", but that does not seem to help me. I have tried editing the ir file for my DirecTV box and making a new command that basically concatenates the OK and EXIT command ir codes. Then I selected this new command as the "Channel Change Confirm Code", but that did not seem to do the trick.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or know of a solution?

I hope there is some sort of solution to this. I am currently using a MyBlaster with Heremote to conrol it. My cable box requires a second enter command to be sent, and was very easy to setup with heremote.

I want to run in service mode though, which heremote doesn't work with, so i've got a usb-uirt arriving soon.

Anyone have any solutions?

Can you set the time to a smaller amount than 5 seconds? With my cable box I set it to the minimum of 1 second to minimize this problem but I still get the OSD for that first second.

I got around this by setting the minimum number sent to 3. This will change my channel without needing a enter or select to be pushed. Then you can set your confirm code to exit and it will remove the osd.

Glad that worked for you. I have the minimum number sent set to 3 as well but unfortunately my DirecTV box, (Phillips DSX5500), still hangs there waiting to see if I want to hit more buttons. So if I set the confirm code to exit, it cancels the channel change altogether. Then I thought, maybe the dsx5500 will immediately change the channel if I enter 4 digits. So I tried that with the remote directly and it wasn't the case. So I still have the same problem.

Unfortunately the options on my DirecTV box, (a Phillips DSX5500), are 20, 15, 10, or 5 seconds. Lame.
