Video displayed as a series of still frames after a longish Pause
After pausing a show that is being watched for 1-2 minutes and pressing play to start again, the sound starts normally but the video is shown as a series of still frames at 1-2 second intervals. After 15 or so seconds the video plays normally in synch with the audio.
I was playing around with the numbuffers registry setting and noticed that the larger the buffer the longer this phenomenon lasts. The default value of 20 makes this last about 3-4 seconds. Has anyone experienced this? Could be Decoder specific (I use the Sonic) so I will try other ones. |

Has anyone reported this?
I gave up and went to the XCard full time now because of it. At at setting of 20 it was not too bad, but 100+ it gets totally un acceptable. John |

I tested some more last night.
I believe I had it before with 2.0.20 as well but didn't really notice it until last weekend when I changed the buffers from 20 to 200. It happens after a pause for me and in a more limited way during forward/rewind. It seems that as soon as play resumes, the audio starts at a different point in the video timeline eg 20 seconds ahead(this is probably directly related to the buffer size) after a pause(effectively missing some of the show) and the video plays from where it was paused. The media player then tries to fastrack the video to catch up with the audio. I am submitting a bug report right away. |
