How do I use the "emitter cables?"
Plug in one end on the USB-UIRT and stick them to your cable box.

Is there a port for them on the USB-UIRT?
Yes.

[quote]Will this work out of the box if I do that setup?[quote]I suppose it depends on your definition of "out-of-the-box".

How would I set it up?
The SageTV manual covers setup of the USB-UIRT (I think).

I assume since you have the Phillips MCE Remote working...many of them -- that it works without issue. Is anythig extra needed to make the setup work?
Works without issue... I can't think of anything extra needed.

SHS is basically doing the same thing, except the remote he has doesn't come with the emitters, so he is buying them separately.

So, what software will I need to operate this setup for the remote? I've heard about a software called Girder and from what I hear it seems required for some setups/buttons or whatever and I downloaded a trial version of it and it seemed almost impossibly hard to setup. Will I need Girder for this remote to use any or all of the buttons?

Or is the Phillips MCE Remote + USB-UIRT simply plug in and start using?

I happen to use Girder for other reasons, but I'm pretty sure you don't need it. SageTV has built-in support for the USB-UIRT.

I believe that people who use the MCE transceiver instead of the USB-UIRT have figured out how to use Girder to get around a limitation of the MCE transceiver (green Windows button).

You do have to configure the USB-UIRT, which I believe is covered in the SageTV manual.

The green button. Can I get it to work with USB-UIRT...Without tricks?

Will all of this automatically occur without Girder or will I need to configure it. Is the configuration easy? Is there a tutorial to setup this remote?

This is my first ever SageTV setup. Or any TV Tuner setup.

Actually, I use Girder, so you probably don't want to know how I did it, but how you can do it without using Girder. And, as I've said 3 times now, it should be in the SageTV manual.

Well, if you want the USB-UIRT to respond to the remote when you are NOT running SageTV, then you will probably want to use Girder.

No matter what you choose, there will be some configuration required.

Is the configuration easy?
This is a little too subjective for me to answer.

Once you have a USB-UIRT, there is no difference between this remote and any other remote.

I can answer this with a resounding NO, until you all of a sudden just see how the configuration works. At least that's the way it was with me, on first blush it was a very difficult program to configure, but once you realize how it works, it's a piece of cake. There's a newer HID driver for the IR receiver that is included with the remote (MCE Remote that is), that SHOULD allow you to use any button on the remote for whatever function you want to use.

This girder plugin is mentioned here: http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...ead.php?t=9372

You'll need to check the girder forums for info as to how you use it though. I haven't gotten around to trying it yet (might do that tonight, as I'm wanting to put my MCE remote on our PC upstairs instead of the limited Streamzap).

While I won't get into absolutes because of the subjectivity, it is most certainly easier to configure the USB-UIRT in Sage than it is to configure Girder. Not sure what the question was actually asking, though.
