Help me out with the remux part. New to this, and I am not sure what filter I should use for the remux. I have not found any on my system that seem to work. What are you using? THanks! |

So darn close...I got it working with the demux, remux, but it only ouputs a couple seconds and then the video freezes. Maybe WIn7 does not like some of these filters? Ugh.

Use the SBDARecoderdump do not use the dump in the tutorial as output. then try the non hd channels then try the hd channels

I wonder why que3xp's instructions for the Graph setup dont work consistently (The tuner directly out to the SBDARecorderDump). and I frequently get unplayable files that everything (Videoredo, tsmuxer, etc) does not even consider a TS stream?
Hum. I am so darn close...

I don't think this ever worked with high quality hd 1080i 720p etc.. the raw data from fire-wire comes in at the highest resolution possible even if I set my box to a lower resolution. I gave up on capturing HD through firewire.
I can capture all my digital SD channels with no problem. No bad data etc... when i try and capture pure HDTV the files after a few seconds get corrupted. So I am happy for now with capturing through firewire my SD digital channels (99 Channels). I will look into getting a HDPVR to record hd in the future. It is not a W7 problem I tried in XP, VISTA and W7 they all captured my SD digital fine.... but didn't capture my HD without getting corrupted files.

After beating my head against the wall I finally got the right combination and got all my HD and SD channels working with no bad files. Make sure in w7 the legacy drivers are installed for your fire-wire card.
Below is my ini file... notice the tuning delay. The other stuff paths to channel and grf file can be changed. [System] Port=6969 [Graph] FileName="C:\GRAPHEDIT\SGR1\srgts.grf" TuningDelay=5000 UnloadGraphOnStop=1 UnloadGraphOnSwitch=0 [Girder] UseGirder=0 GirderHost=127.0.0.1 GirderPort=1024 GirderPassword= GirderPrefix=Channel GirderIndividualNumbers=1 GirderInterNumberTimeSpacing=10 [ExeTuner] UseExeTuner=1 ExeTunerPath=C:\gethd\channelw.exe -v -f 2 For the graph I use the NVIDIA TS info parser between the capture device and the SGraphRecorder dump.. the ouput of the dump I made it Dump.ts... Sage will automatically encode as mpg. If you do not have the NVIDIA decoders installed and no info parser... you can try to leave it out. But make sure the tuning delay is set. I found that with the info parser it performs better on my system.

Need some basic help
First, Thanks for yours and everyone's work on solving this problem
Now I need some help: 1. What is a 'Windows 7 Legacy driver' - does this refer to the old xp drivers? If not, where do you get these drivers? 2. Where do you get the Channelw.exe file that can use command line interface. I assume this is not the standard windows xp file but a more primitive file that works under the CMD window. 3. It would help if someone would create a new complete set of install instructions for Windows 7. There are several install versions over the past 3 years which have all been patched. A final version, for Windows 7, would be something many people will be looking for in the next few months. 3. Sorry for being so dumb, just need some help |

1. The legacy drivers are already in windows 7. Go to device manager find your IEEE card. Right Click update driver software. Select Browse my computer for driver software. Then click on " Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. There you should see the legacy drives.
As far as the other stuff you can find then posted on the first post in this thread.

Regarding Nvidia TS Info Parser
I do not have the Nvidia TS Info Parser file. I do have ATI hardware and Cyberlink Power DVD 9 Ultra. Could a direct show filter from one of these work instead?
What type of file name should I look for? I do not see something with the name Parser. Thanks for any help |

It will work without the parser just attach the device to the dump.ts in your graph remove the parser.

I heard something strange from the retail counter at Comcast today... from a guy claiming to be fairly high up in the training ranks. He said that the manufacture of their moto boxes had recently forced a firmware update "encrypting" (thereby disabling) the firewire port on their boxes. He stated the reason being that 'premium' content was finding its way from the firewire port to youtube and other online venues.
I noted the FCC regulation about functional firewire ports and he emphasized that it was the mfgr, not Comcast, that was forcing the update. Naturally I'm skeptical of this, but I wouldn't put it past them to try it. That being said, the firewire on my DCH3416 is still working; in that I tried a couple of channels when I got home and actually got a picture. I don't know how many are not 5C since the feeding of spooks takes priority for now.

IMHO that would be very strange as I could see the powers that be putting pressure on the major cable companies, but I find it hard to believe that they would go after the hardware manufacturers.

are there any Firewire 64bit Windows7 drivers for the STB?
I can not find a compatible driver in the Tim M. Moore download package. |

As far as I know there are no 64-bit STB firewire drivers. I seem to remember someone might be trying to work on new drivers. But I could be wrong. This is such a niche area that I kind of doubt it will ever happen.

FireSTB + Motorola DCH3416 Dual Tuner
I just got the FireSTB and VLC to playback HD content from my motorola DCH3416 set top box. I had 1 question I hope someone can answer:
The STB actually has 2 tuners. The output from the STB also has 2 IEEE1394 ports. I tried switching the ports but both seem to play back whatever is currently shown / playing. My question is if it's possible to capture from both tuners? |

I just wanted to give my thanks to everyone's hard work on this ability.
A couple weeks ago I got a second HD-PVR and second HD STB from Comcast. I was worried since my original HD STB was one of the old Motorola 6200's and this new one was a much smaller Pace RNG110. It took some sleuthing in this thread and online but found that by installing the ExDeus drivers in addition to the firestb stuff I had installed for the original Moto 6200 I could get the Pace box working. I did have to do the registry hack to add the 'f' force parameter to the command string but both STB's/HD-PVR's are now happily recording HD! Again thanks to everyone who has done all the hard work in the beginning! And thanks for this thread to help us all out.
