Recording from Two Firewire sources on one SageTV system
Is it possible to record from two Firewire sources on one SageTV system?
I have had a single Firewire source working extremely well for over six months now (regular STB) and I want to add a second source (different STB) to the same system. I need to understand how to do this or if it can be done – do I need to run a second copy of SGraphrecorder (how?) or do I run a single copy with changes to the SageTV config file – or do I have to sun this on unique separate SageTV servers? Any ideas or input would be helpful? MJS |

If I remember correctly you will have to install two SGraphRecorder. Just copy all of the files to another directory, change the port settings (default 6969) to something else (maybe 6970) and use another graph that is configured for your new receiver.
Add a new section in Sage.properties with the new receiver and it should work. Anders |

Has anyone solved the problem of changing from one FW channel to another FW channel without freezing of the video?
I can only switch between two FW channels by first changing to an analog channel first. Thanks |

it seems different for everyone..for me using Moto->Dump and i was able to change to some HD channels without issue. I would recommend that you continue staying current with the latest issues, and submit bug reports to the sage folks. They seem to keep improving TS support and I think that is where the problem lies.

Does this new HDTV support include STB's? I wasn't clear...

Hmm, I might give 4.0 a try, thanks for the heads-up.
I was getting close to having this thing actually working, channel changing / tuning is my only problem remaining. I got a new motherboard (Soltek SL-K8TPro-754) to fix my hibernation problem, and it has spdif integrated, and firewire. My audio is actually working now. I still don't understand why Sage insists on tuning the channel between shows, even though always_tune is false. Since the channel changing thing isn't working 100% of the time, I can be watching something and then all of a sudden I'm watching the Spanish channel or something. Grr... Anyway... I can't sleep so I'm probably going to try out 4.0. |

Version 4.0 didn't seem to help with / change any of the problems I am having, but I will play with it some more later.

I've been trying to get Firewire recording/live tv setup and I've been fairly successful, except that I cannot get sound to work. Has anyone run into this problem before?
Basically, my test graph in GraphEdit worked but when I hit play I had no sound. My "dump" graph worked fine; the dump.mpg file that got created had video and audio. In SageTV, I was able to (very slowly) tune an HDTV channel in Live TV, but there was no sound. My graph is: Motorola AVC Tuner Device -> NVIDIA TS Info Parser -> MPeg2 Demultiplexer -> Snapstream MPEGMuxer -> dump.mpg I'm using SageTV v.4 (purchased). |

I am in the same boat after upgrading to V4. HDTV video works, but no sound. With 2.2.7, everything was working fine. Sage was recording off the cable box. I was watching on my HTPC with SageClient, life was good. Now, no sound. SDTV shows work fine. I tried saving as .ts files instead of converting them to .ps, but that didn't help either. For some reason, Sage is treating these files differently, even though other players like WMP or TT will play these files fine.

Analog Fine, HD Sluggish at best
I have the following setup for my Firewire STG:
Scientific-Altanta AV/C Tuner Drive -> NVIDIA TS Info Parser -> MPEG-2 Demultiplexer -> PCM MPEG Muxer -> Dump.mpg When I test with GraphEdit using an Analog Channel everything is a-okay. However, when I use a HD Channel the signal records one frame a second, so it appears. Any guesses? Thanks, Matterw |

matterw,
What channel are you trying to record. I would guess you have a 5c issue if it is a premium channel. |

OK, Next Guess:
What is your hardware and decoder configuration? The file may be recording just fine, but your playback may be stuttering. What are you using to play back the recorded file? Newest nVidia decoders were the only way to get smooth playback on my system. Marc |

Yes, tried that too... no luck. It plays back fine with non-HD channels... I am going to try the old Cyberlink filters... stay tuned

Basic help...
**EDIT** This was a problem with VLC when the tuner was on a 5cd channel... Ignore***
Guys, I am having problems getting the original meistb drivers to work -- just to test with VLC. I hate to post this to such a long thread -- but I get this problem on two seperate computers -- so hopefully it is an obvious problem. I install the meistb drivers for my SA3250HD STB... I got them from the last PDF instructions in this post... I see all sorts of posts saying that once you connect the STB -- you will see 3 items. I see four. 2 unknown, 1 tuner, 1 panel. I install for the tuner. I installed the latest stable and nightly VLC. I fire up VLC and choose capture from source -- SA3250 is there -- and then nothing. I close VLC -- and it goes away. But the process is still running. If I try to kill the vlc.exe process, it blue screen halts. Anyone know what this is? I see the exact behavoir on both computers. I am not CERTAIN the FW ports are active -- the call has been placed to COX. Could this be it? Wouldnt VLC just show a blank capture? Hope someone can spot it... Thanks -- and let me know if I should post elsewhere.... Tim Last edited by Bohica; 11-10-2005 at 01:53 AM. |

Ok, I tried:
Scientific-Altanta AV/C Tuner Drive -> NVIDIA TS Info Parser -> MPEG-2 Demultiplexer -> Cyberlink MPEG Muxer -> Dump.mpg And it was bad for HD *and* analog... I am thinking it's something to do with the MPEG muxer I am using... For the first attempt I used (Analog: Yes, HD: No): PCMRDump.ax -- 4.0.03.22 PCMRMpgMux.ax -- 5.0.0.1521 For the 2nd I used (Analog: No, HD: No: CLDump.ax -- 3.0.10.01 MpgMux.ax -- 3.0.10.21 Let me know your thoughts... |

Riddle me this, Batman...
I used this graph: Scientific-Altanta AV/C Tuner Drive -> NVIDIA TS Info Parser -> MPEG-2 Demultiplexer -> PCM MPEG Muxer -> Dump.mpg and the only HD channel I was able to record was WABC... The rest of the HD channels had a one second pause in between each frame... |

Hey CohnHead, I don't know for sure, but now that I see HD is working for at least of the channels I do believe you are correct -- that this is a 5c issue...
