I currently have 2 HD boxes (Motorola 6200s) and 4 SD boxes working flawlessly with Sage. the HD boxes of course are via SGraphRecorder. I plan on adding another Motorola HD6200. Currently I have each one encoding from a different machine, but I plan on trying to run two instances of SGraph off one machine for this next box. Has anyone successfully done this?
thx |

Yes.. I have do boxes running off of one machine just fine. IIRC it wasn't too difficult to set up..

I used to have dual DCT-6200's (I now only use one since most of my recording is done on my dual QAM tuners).
It does work fine. You just need to make a copy of your Sgraphrecorder directory and call it something else (like Sgraphrecorder2) I do recommend you rename your sgraphrecorder.exe in each of the directories to something like sgraphrecorder_1.exe and sgraphrecorder_2.exe - it make it a lot easier to troubleshoot if you have a problem (otherwise they both show up in the tray as 'sgraphrecorder' and you can't tell which one you're dealing with).

Need help with initial setup - register.bat?
I'm following the instructions found here:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...postcount=1350 Trying to get fw capture and channel change on my Motorola DCH3200 with Comcast in Portland. I've got the box connected and drivers installed, but when I go to VLC and try to open the capture device, I can select it and push play - but I get no picture. The only part of the instructions that tripped me up so far was in the first section where it says to execute REGISTER.BAT... When I downloaded the graphedit software and extracted the zip I don't have a REGISTER.BAT to execute. This is apparently to register the filters. How do I do this step? Is there still a filter registration that needs to be done here? Could this be keeping me from seeing video or am I SOL with my tuner box? Thanks, uberpixel

I did find the proppage.dll file and successfully registered that one. Is there something I need to set in VLC with respect to the capture mode - DirectShow or DVB DirectShow? Is there another way to determine if my STB is outputting video? Thanks again, uberpixel

The other thing to think about is your cable box might be encrypting everything.
Make sure you cable box is set to a local channel that has a high confidence that it's not encrypted... Like I said.. I can't remember if I did the register.bat... I might have... Jim |

When I try to play from the capture device in VLC it just says:
dshow:// in the bottom and the window doesn't expand or show any video. Is this a total 5C shutdown? Anyone else in Portland, OR or w/ Comcast that can make this work? Thanks!

Have you tried rebooting your cable box? Happened to me once where everything was enumerating properly but it wasn't recording anything. But once I restarted (unplugged for 5 sec) the cable box everything was fine again. I'm guessing they just pushed out a firmware update or something.

Looks like they've either shut me down or I need to get a new box. But the fact that I can see the box and install the drivers in Device Managers has me leaning towards a total 5C lockdown. Or I'm doing something wrong...

I doubt they've gone 5c on you. You say you don't see anything when you hit play in graphedit - when you hit play, and watch the folder where you've got your mpegdump file, if you hit refresh do you see the file growing?

Maybe I should continue the rest of the setup before I give up. I just figured if I couldn't see anything in VLC then I was out of luck. I'll see if I can get channel changing to work. That should at least confirm that I'm communicating with the STB. -uberpixel

Yes I believe that if you can't get it working in VLC then you are hosed..
What did you connect to in VLC? The Panel or the tuner device? What OS? I think I must have done the register.bat because I saw it in the graphedit directory... You might need to actually do that... Jim |

So I tried to reinstall everything to see if I could get it working. AND... It still doesn't work. Same behavior as before. I'm using Windows Home Server for my OS and a DCH3200 cable box. Arghh.

Also, I am using the new version of graphedit and did not try to find proppage.dll and register it. Could this be a problem? |

I gave up...
Let us know if you make any progress. I wonder if there is any way to determine if our programming is 5C'd so that we know if what we are trying to do is even possible.. Good luck, uberpixel

1. Installed DirectX SDK from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en . I couldn't imagine how this would have fixed the issue. But this is something that I did do. 2. Reboot 2. Installed Zoom Player and let it install all updates during install. 3. Reboot Now, both VLC test and Graphedit test worked fine. I was able to see the video and hear the audio. Now, I'm stuck at the final level i.e. forcing sage to use SageGraphRecorder. I did try the steps in the tutorial (added the lines to Sage.properties) and every time I opened SageTV, SageTV just removed the lines that I added from Sage.properties. I have not spent any time on this yet. I'm hoping I'll be able to find some tips from the forum. Let me see. |

You need to STOP all Sage services and/or prgrams from running and then edit the .properties file.
