I have another idea. I'd like an alert if we are recording something after a sporting event so that we can adjust the stop time.

For example, I searched for an actor, and it gave me a list of shows. So I said record it. It didn't take me to the guide for the day/channel. It was set to record from 7- 7:30.

I watched the recording, but there was a NASCAR event and my show was delayed to 7:30-8. But I never knew that, so I missed it.

Media Playback/Slideshow/Visualization Requests

Also I can't figure out how to play just an album. I Don't want to go through and select each and every song and add them to a playlist when I just want to hear the album. Any suggestions?? I don't want to create a playlist for each of my albums... The Grouping is already done,by both the ID tags and the fact I have folders for each album with the song MP3s within.

What does the visualization button do? I can't select amongst visualizations? I would love it if they used the Windows Media Player visualizations and I could pick the one I wanted. Or an the very minimum allowed me to do a slide show for my visualization (with the directory or folder for the source of the slideshow as a configuration option. Perhaps allow us to create and save slideshows (like playlists) and select the Image Slideshow Playlist as the Visualization?

Finally how about video playlists? I would love to create playlists for my daughter of her favor Baby Einstein's etc and just select it and let them play in either sequence or randomly???

Thanks
Dave

It would be handy to have "Sleep Mode" as a selection in the popup menu you get when you click in the video window (the one that lets you select aspect ratio, toggle full screen, etc).

Instead, you've got to go from there to main menu to put Sage to bed.

Killer app, in any case...

In the Recording Information/Conflict resolution screen: there should be an option to jump directly to the Live TV Guide for the time and date that the conflict is occuring, because you need to eyeball the other programs and descriptions on at that time to make a decision about how to resolve the conflict.

Right now I have to manually scroll the Guide forward several days to when the conflicts occur.

Hiya, quick feature request...

For a 'favorite' show, give us the option to specify what time period we want to record favorites on. For example, and this is a question I asked about... I record the Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central, that airs a new episode very weeknight at 11:00pm. When I use the SageTV's favorite function to find "first run" episodes, it will record once, and then never again, since the Daily Show's guide listing is always the same, so Sage assumes it is always a 'watched' episode.

The way I suggest this to happen is just to specify the time and then I can select "First runs and reruns"; so I can create a favorite from the Daily Show, specify the episode I want to record (the 11pm-11:30 one), choose the days I want it to record on (it doesn't air on Fridays), and that's it. This way I still have a 'favorite' so I have all the details that go with it, but I'm not going to have to record 30 episodes a week (as Comedy Central airs them continually thru the daytime), and can record just 4 as I have always done with my ReplayTV.

Thanks!

Another quickie... make fast forward and rewind work in increments as you hit the button. If I hit it once, it's 1x FF/RWD, then 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x. Then you can create a button to make a 30 second skip and also a 7 second instant replay. This starts to adopt some of the functionality Tivo and ReplayTV offer since it's convienient and simple to use.

Thanks!

Play from beginning of the show... when I go to my recorded shows, if I hit select please give me a popup for "play from beginning" or "play" (which would be from the last played spot). This way I don't have to rewind thru the show entirely to go to the beginning, nor hit watched, then watch it again. Makes life easier.

Add ALL BeyondTV features that are missing in SageTV 2.0. Mostly their web admin features. I'm sure the SnapStream folks are dissecting SageTV 2.0 and adding its feature into their own products also.

A feature request regarding Favorites. I would like to be able to type in a title that may not exist in the current 14 day outlook. However, if it shows up it then gets recorded.

a. LiveTV 5.1 audio routed via the systems sound card.
b. DVD output via the PVR 350
c. POP3 based simple email plug in
d. Weather plug in
e. Now playing @ the movies plug in

2.) Sage options:

Further completeing the front end.

I would like to see the DVD player, Library and FIles and Stored Pictures as well as MP3's ALL have there own buttons and interface.

As it is now, DVD and Library are on one button. Seems like an after thought.

Thanks.

I know this has been mentioned before but it is worth repeating

The Request:
Seperate the Core(recording app) from the UI(SageTV interface). Then setup the Core's based on a peer to peer model, and allow the Core to run as a Window's service. Each Core should have the ability to do local storage, as each should be a full peer. There are already established/proven protocols for determining a "master" peer from among the known peers. There are also well establihed protocols to deal with temporary loss of network cohesion between peers.

The benefits:
No more need for SageRecorder/SageClient setups(on PC systems). One setup from the user's perspective and a Core that can continue to function with the loss of the UI app or even another peer Core on the network. The Core runs as a Windows service, so logons aren't required. This would allow Sage to more easily, perhaps even automatically, restart itself if the Core or UI app did crash. All this would help stabilty, make Sage more redundant/versatile, and make it easier for users(especially new) to setup. It's a win, win situation. IMHO

Being on page 17 I feel my requests are not going to be read by anyone. Oh well, here goes...

1) Work on the navigation. Ever used FireFox? You should, it blows IE away. FireFox makes good use of the mouse buttons for navigation. I find Sage's right click menu useless and the middle mouse click isn't used at all! Also the back button in the upper left doesn't always go back... on same pages it just moves the currently selected button (try it on the search-for-show page).

2) If I hit Sleep Mode while in fullscreen, it stays in fullscreen. Ok, great. However, if I want to toggle from fullscreen to windowed mode, I can't without starting to watch something, then right clicking. Fullscreen toggle should be possible from the main menu where you can choose Sleep Mode. Better yet would be in the upper right of all menus.

I realize these suggestions deal with using the mouse, but not everyone uses a remote, or if they do they still sometimes use the mouse and should not be forced to pick up the remote to do something because it can't be done with the mouse (toggling fullscreen from main menu so Sage can be put in Sleep Mode in the system tray).

Lightbulb one-to-many streaming

Here's an idea...
How about a dedicated Sage "Channel(s)" where you can specify a pre-recorded video stream(s) be played (name of the stream file, time it'll start playing, reoccurences, etc.), to that many Sage clients can tune to that "channel" and see the same stream at the same place in time already. Also maybe list each PVR board as a "Channel" when it's actually recording something, so you could tune in to see the program and not wind up bothering another PVR board if you don't need to.

I'm thinking mostly educational institutions could use this ("broadcast" a program about some topic to all the LAN wired classrooms so you don't have to pack 1000 kids in an auditorium) but it could even be great for things like get togethers... everyone wants to watch the same movie, so stuff all the kids in one room where they can play and holler and stuff, and the adults can enjoy the movie w/o all the excess commotion. OR if you're a complete NUT, you could be streaming the same flick to all your TVs in your house so as you move room to room doing whatever it is you need to do, you can keep watching! :P

Hope the idea is clear enough! :P

Lightbulb Descriptions for imported files

It would be nice to be able to attach descriptions (metadata) to imported videos in the same way that descriptions are attached to Sage recorded shows. In the information window associated with an imported video, a menu option would be used to allow the description to be added. The menu button would open a popup dialig where the information could be added in a few fields (text boxes).

Secondly, it would be nice to have an automated way to import shows recorded with BTV and have the associated metadata brought in with it. This may not be possible of course, but it certainly would make it easier to migrate to Sage from BTV.

Note by Mod:I've already PM'd Pctv with info about the custom STVs and their partial abilities in this area. So no need to post(here) or PM about them.

Playlist

Any word on a possible playlist feature for 2.0? I have so many shows I want to dump to tape, but doing it one by one is just not practical.. A playlist.. even a ctrl-click to select multiple shows would be awesome!

Email Notification of new recordings

I would LOVE to see this implemented!!

What if we could setup Sage to Notify us via E-Mail when it records a new favorite? There are so many things recorded, especially when intelligent recording is enabled, that I have to dig through to find.. I'm sure there are things I'd really like to see that I'm just not aware was even recorded..

How about an E-mail saying...

"Sage has recorded a New/Rerun of 'Star Trek Enterprise'"

That would be cool!!!!
