Support
I'd like to formally request support for a hardware decoder card in SageTV that will allow the OSD to be displayed through the tvout port of the decoder card itself. There are several cards available, and while I would absolutely *LOVE* it if you could find a way to make it work with the Hollywood Plus (since it now has drivers that support DirectShow), I would still be willing to purchase a new card if I could get the picture quality to match that of a hardware decoder card.
I'd also like to take this oppurtunity to wish the SageTV team a Happy Holiday and thank them from the bottom of my coach-potatoe heart for all of their hard work.

Filtering in the guide has been mentioned before but I wanted to add that the guides should allow you to turn filters on and off for watched, favorites, first runs, movies.
Being able to change the sort order by recording time and title would also be nice. I also would like to put my vote in for a themed favorite based on a key word. Thanks |

I hope I’m not suggesting anything also said here. I tried to skim this over again and see what I also wanted to see.
1) I would like to see a VoD service feature such as XP MCE offers with a few companies, however, they are skinned for XP MCE specifically. 2) Music Services integrated such as iTunes (AAC support is required) and Napster. 3) An integrated universal RF remote. Such as one that can control SageTV and also control the sound on my audio system and which TV input my TV is on. Being 100% integrated is the key. Then throw in a GUI to configure the remote instead of having to use girder. It also should control the mouse in Windows. I think this will cause more people to want SageTV over others. |

1. Sage should run as a Windows Service. Some applications will use two services....one is the actual service. The other is simply a polling service which checks the main service operation and takes action if something is wrong. This leads into request #2.
2. I don't always check Sage regularly....so if Sage has a problem, it should let me know somehow. Notify via smtp, run a batch file, etc.... If I run out of hard drive space, if there is a conflict, if Sage cannot access a network share, or if Sage has an error of any kind, I would like the ability to either bounce a customizable email off of an smtp server, or simply run an external batch file (so that I can pass the information to an smtp server). I expect Sage to do its thing for weeks on end without my intervention. Often times I dont log into a computer or even use Sage at all as I am viewing recordings with a MediaMVP client, or I'm out of town. So if Sage is having problems, I'll never know about it. With the above feature, I could get an email or even a text message from Sage telling me there is a problem of some sort....like "cannot access \\server\pvr$ directory" or "disk full" or "conflict resolution required"...whatever. |

I apologize if this has allready been posted
Had a couple of problems over the weekend. 1)Manually entering channel numbers in the guide doesn't move it to that channel. Say I am on 250 and I want to got to channel 11 to see what is on. I would like to enter in channel 11 in the guide(hit 1 1) and then have guide move the guide to channel 11. Rite now I have have to use the arrow keys on my remote wonder to move the guide around. 2)When I change channels in livetv guide doesn't change to that channel. Say I am on 325 and I want to go to channel 4. My guide is in channel 325 and I hit 4 in livetv I go back to the guide and it is still on 325. |

Will 2.0 support the ability to play a CD? With the Music Jukebox there's obviously the ability to play and manage music, and Sage can already play a DVD, so I wondered if you will add a feature to play a CD as well.
I like JovePlayer's ability to play all media types from within a single application, and would love to see the same from SageTV eventually. |

Another vote to run as a service, ensuring that if the system is rebooted, the SageTV recording process is automatically restarted without the need to log-in an account automatically which compromises desktop security.
Cheers, Rob

Re: PVR-350's FM Tuner
I second that! Also, it'd be cool to have visualization while listening to the radio or music from the music library.

Client License Suggestion
I currently have SageTV and one client license.. But my problem is that I'd like to be able to view my recordings from any of a number of machines/laptops within my house. It's not cost effective for me to purchase a client license for each machine as most of my viewing will be on one or two of them.. what I'd like to see is a license that would allow a Single Remote connection per license.. so, have a license keyed to it's server in such a way that only ONE Sage Client can be active at a time.. all pc's in the house could use the same license, but only one at a time.. if you wanted to use more than one pc at a time, then you would need to buy additional licenses and "Register" them with your Sage Server..
What do you all think of that? Sure would make my life better |

You need one license for each PC the Client is installed on. We may change this model once we support the MVP, but for now this is your only option.

Thanks Dan, that is what I thought, and why I posted it as a "Suggestion". It sure would be nice to watch something from my laptop on occasion, or my son's pc and not have to license them for their occasional use. I imagine it wouldn't be hard to create some type of hash that identifies your computer and your registration that is stored and verifed by the Sage Server to ensure the key and machine is unique and not duplicated and to ensure that only a single instance of it is being used at any given time, unless multiple licensed are purchased, in which case multiple machines could access the server, up to the number of licenses, simultaneously..
Just a thought.. Thanks again for all your hard work!

Stuntman - your suggestion is awesome. For what it's worth, I'm not a current sageclient user. But if I could use it from any pc up to a maximum concurrent # of connections, I'd sign up today.

While this licensing would help me too, I have to say that Sage seems pretty inexpensive as it is. Especially when you factor in the fact that the 2.0 upgrade will be free.

Just got SageTV 1.4x running smoothly. I had some success with MythTV but the TV-out on my NV GF2MX was horrible, support for ATI tv-out in Linux is sketchy and it looked like support for the PVR350 TVO was closer with SageTV. I am very pleased with the way things are working but I am going to need some external feedback to show when sage is recording, hence my request:
Some plugin which would be able to feed an LED wired in the parallel port or a small LCD display (such as a Matrix Orbital) to show when a tuner is recording. Thanks for an awesome program. Keep up the good work. |

Support to work with software/hardware decoding satellite DVB cards that work with HTPC. I would purchase your software today if I knew that it would work with the Nova-s card with software decoding so I can use the timeshifting capabilities with HD.

I'm hoping with Sage 2.0/Studio I'll be able to do something similar, either natively in Sage, or have Sage send events to girder. I'd really like to be able to display currently playing/current status/etc on an LCD/VFD.

I wouldn't mind having internet Radio (like shoutcast, live365, etc.) station support added to the Jukebox functionality. Other types of Media Players (Prismiq is one that I know of) do this.

I'm a Sage newbie - just trying it out - so maybe this is already possible:
- Ability to hook use Windows media player for playing music. I love the G-Force visualization plug in for WMP and it would be great to have that working in a way that is fairly seamless with the rest of Sage |

enhancement request for SageTV: to be able to offload recorded shows to DVD-/+R(W) media from within Sage TV UI.
I assume you can already do this with an external tool such as Pinnacle Studio (and then pick up the files manually in the sage video directory), but what I have in mind is: to be able to (with my remote control) select any sage recording, then from the popup menu select "record to DVD". in case the disc is non blank DVD+RW (-RW) the software prompts the user to either erase the disc either to append this show to the disc. I expect this could be implemented by a plugin/COM interface to an existing tool (like Nero etc). The value is: once this is possible, you can casually move recordings to DVD media and watch them on a portable DVD player or just share a recording with somebody else. You can also easily archive recordings you want to hold on to. Thanks, Johan De Meulder |
