TiVo Like!!!

This has been mentioned but I would like to emphasize that TiVo's interface is something that you should really try to imitate.

It is so easy to use, navigate, well laid out, so easy to read on a TV screen and very remote control friendly. Also, most features are well thought out like the Season Pass, Wish List and TV guide Search feature to name a few.

Plus having your Client/Server and multiple tuner capabilty, this could be the best feature rich stable PVR (Multimedia Center) in the market place.

Lightbulb Sage Client Local Copy to Local Library

My children each have Sage Client running on ther machines with 100 gig of data. When they want to save a show they really like (kids like watching things over and over) I would like them to move it to THEIR Sage Client library and not to the server's Library. When Sage client comes up, show both the files in the Server Library AND the client Library. This allows for utilization of local resources while freeing the server for taping new shows.

To sum this up... For Sage Client indicate what local drive/directory to store library files. When my child moves a show to the library, it is copied over the network and stored on the Sage Client device's harddrive. This allows for a more distributed saving of files utilizing harddrive space otherwise lost to sages archival file system (library)...

Thanks... Follower

I admit having not read all 220 other posts, so I apologize if this has been hit on already:

I would dearly love a way to move vids OUT of the TV library and back into Sage Recordings.

(That is all)

Lost 2 recording today because someone in my house power off the rca sat reciever. Luck for me i have tivo recording the same thing as sage tv but using a different sat reciever. Brings me to the question is it possible to send a power on command to the sat reciever before recording a show like the tivo so that something like this wont happen again?

Simple question. My neighbor has a ReplayTV and last year, they took off the commercial skip. This month they implimented a new feature called chapter search, or something like that. In a way the new feature is the same thing, sort of. It indexes based on scenes, not just commercials, wink, wink, nudge nudge. Is there any way this can be implimented in SageTV?

It's like a way to have my screen saver turned off when SageTV is in Full Screen mode.

How bout a new Favorites category that will only record new runs of a show. Say I put "Law&Order" in my Favorites, I get like 50 shows a week, when I really only want the new runs of the show without having to manually record each one..

A zillion questions...but I can't find the definitive answer for the first one...

Is 2.0 going to support running as a service under XP? The workaround is not acceptable, since it is not reliable.

Also, a feature request...I would like to be able to access the video and audio decoder properties dialogs from SageTV. I sometimes switch between headphones and 5.1 (girlfriend sleeping) and I want to be able to adjust my CyberLink decoder settings from 5.1 Dolby to Dolby headphone on the fly. In other words, allow me to access the filter's properties from SageTv .

(p.s. I can whore my programming services (no pun intended) for coding either one of toe two requests I have hahaha)

I'd like to see fast forward playback with pitch compensated audio. I can accomplish this today by watching recorded shows through powerdvd 5 (which provides pitch compensated audio up to 2x realtime). Being able to do this directly in sage would rock.

Will the Sage 2.0 have a library function. This way, say I record CSI, Sage would automatically place it in that folder. This way it would be easy to find.

I know currently that there is a library function in Sage. But I would like to know if in the next version, will I be able to make new folders and rename them to the name of the series and have Sage automatically place the recoded show in that particular folder.

Hey just thought I'd throw in a request for Flac and/or Ape support. I just can't deal with mp3's.

1)I'd like to have separate priorities for First Runs Shows and Reruns in my list of favorites- right now they are lumped together... For example I want to record first run Law & Orders over anything else, but I want reruns recorded only if they don't conflict with another show I watch. Right now, I can't do this.
2) At times, Sage fails to record one of my favorites at the time I think it should, and then I find it records the missing show at another airing. It would be good if you could select a show that is a favorite and see the times that Sage is planning to record it, and why it isn't recording it, when I think it should.

Thanks
-steve

I haven't read all the 236 posts in this 12 page thread and apologize in advance if this request has already been submitted, but I did a quick search in the printable view of this thread (with all posts) and didn't see this ...

Request for better "Delete" options

1. I would like to see an option where you can easily delete a show while still being in the window where you are watching it. For example, while watching a show, if I press the "options" button, I get a menu with two choices -- close and detailed info. I would like to see an option added here which allows me to "Delete" this show (without having to go back to the guide)

2. An enhancement to the above request will be to add a feature where when I am playing a show and reach the end of it, I will automatically get an option to delete the show or keep it. TiVo, ReplayTV and WinXP MCE all offer this type of option, and having personally used all the three, I really miss this feature in SageTV.

Probably stating the obvious here, but any kind of Delete request should be followed with a "Are You Sure?" type of confirmation, just to avoid accidental deletes.

Hey, I am brand new to the SageTV universe (as in, I've ordered my copy and my card, neither of which I've tried yet :P), and I got to about page 5 of this thread before I realized reading the whole thing would take forever, so I appologize in advance if this is already implemented or has been brought up and taken care of in this thread, but...

The ability to schedule recordings from a remote location over the web. I searched around and found an old thread from about 6 months ago where this was discussed, but I haven't seen anything else about it. This was the only feature that had me debating between SageTV and SnapStream, even though Sage appears to have a lot more functionality.

I chose you guys, so please don't let me down, this would really be a killer feature.

I'd like to add another request for the ability to delete files in the video library right within Sage in the same way you can delete recorded shows.

Multiple Playback / Indefinate Search/Favorites

Indefinate Search
I'd like to see, and perhaps this will be in V2, a way to select "Favorite Actors" or "Keywords" that will be used to seed the intelligent recordings..

For example.. I could list 'Julia Roberts' as a favorite actor and Sage would then record anything she is in that comes on, or anything where she is mentioned in the description..

Likewise I'd like to put in keywords like 'Space' and/or 'NASA' and do a similar thing..

This would be a persistant list, and not seach exclusively the current listing, but search for them indefinately.

Multiple Playback List
Also, I'd like to see a playback option to allow you to watch multiple recordings in sequence.. For example, I'd like to be able to setup Sage so that I can have it show 3 episoded of "Clifford" in a row for my children without having to select them each individually at the conclusion of each episode.

Thanks!!!!!!!!

DirecTV Channel Change Confirmation

I am using a Sony SAT-B55 receiver with the built-in serial control in Sage 1.4.10. Somewhat frequently, the channel change commands do not "take" and Sage winds up recording the old channel. Could Sage be modified to read the current channel back from the receiver following a channel change and reissue the channel change command if necessary?

I will probably write my own program to do this in the meantime, but it would be great if this feature were built into the software.

I have not read all previous 244 posts, so if this is a repeat, forgive me.

The ability to watch "LiveTV" and NOT record. OR, to ONLY record no more xx minutes (constantly replaced, etc.) OR have one specific limit for LiveTV, and another limit for Recorded shows.

I know all about the intelligent aspects of the program, BUT the machine I'm using isn't a dedicated box for a PVR at this point. I don't want the entire disk consumed, or start deleting older recordings I still want to keep because I've temporarily used more disk space than SageTV was set up to allow on that disk.

My request is similiar to the one above by tundrwd.. I want to watch LIVETV at the highest possible encoding level, but want to record at DVD Standard... I understand I can set this up in my Favorites Manager, and I can change the 'Default" that the LIVETV uses to whatever I want.. the problem is that the INTELLIGENT recordings will record at the 'Default' or "LiveTV" settings.. I don't want the Intelligent recordings to record at the same level as the LiveTV, but rather at the level I record my Favorites at..

So, it would be great to have the following options:
'LIVE TV ENCODING LEVEL'
'FAVORITES ENCODING LEVEL'
'INTELLIGENT RECORDING ENCODING LEVEL'

For me, I'd choose different levels for each.

I understand that the Live TV is also recording, so it may not be easy, or even possible to be watching the stream at one level, but recording it at another.. but this sure would make this do the right thing!

Thanks!

If anybody know a way to do this already, please let me know!
