It is easy to miss, since it isn't in the PDF manual. (Well, maybe p. 421.)

ok... the "-remove" popped up a 'success' message box that paused the .bat and "-install" gave the error "Cannot CreateService." It seems the -remove option sets the service to disabled in the Services listing. I just tried to set it to Automatic and M$ says it's been marked for deletion. Looks like a reboot is in order.
Um... while those parameters are available, I may have been wrong on their purpose. I'll post more when I get some clarification.

No biggie, Opus. I got things back to "normal" on the sage box. using taskkill.exe for the service and devcon to handle the 2 500 tuners so Ir.exe can load up. then i let the recovery feature restart the service. not exactly the way I'd prefer, but it seems to be working for now. That box only gets rebooted for M$ update anyhow. I'll test the Remote when I get home Thursday and see if it's working.

You know... those params probably aren't what you need anyway. I thought there was some command you could use in Windows XP to start/stop services, but I don't know much about that... 'sc' perhaps? I've never used it, so I'm just guessing, based on a quick google search. (Such a command wasn't in an earlier post already, was it?)

The commands I couldn't remember last night are:

net stop SageTV
net start SageTV

That's all you need for the batch file. I don't know where I was going with those command line params.

Great Andy. I'll try that when I get home tomorrow. I actually forgot about a scheduled recording of Eureka last nite, but Sage grabbed the next showing Learned my lesson about messing w/ services through RDP. Thanks again (pre-assuming it works as expected )

OK, thing something in my .bat seems to be messing w/ my system a few hours after I run it. I've noticed the computer freezes up randomly the 2 times I've run the script. Unfortunately I've been away from home both times it happened so I can't tell yet what the deal is. The thing's not completely locked up, but commands can take minutes to show up on the screen and show up in spurts.

Could it be XP doesn't like me disabling devices from cmdline? I've gotten returns from the OS to the effect of the disable will take affect on the next reboot. However, the rest of the script completes and the device is re-enabled as if nothing is wrong.

My biggest fear right now is the WAF will drop to zero before it gets off the ground due to the hard reset required to clear the freeze-ups. I think I'll work on this in my *spare* time since the use of the remote on that box is very rare.

The good news is that I DID get use of the remote before things went haywire. Thanks for the help thus far.
