I'm sure it's the board now. This morning I took another machine that had never had any PVR in it and tried installing the new 250 in it.
I got the exact same results with it. The machine identified the card and the drivers installed off the driver CD just fine. When trying to run the setup.exe, to install WinTv etc, off the driver CD I'd get 2 "ivac" not found messages. I verified that the board was seated properly so that definitely wasn't the problem.

Back to CompUSA it goes!!

Again thanks to everyone here for trying to help.

<sigh> The CompUsa brick and mortar store wouldn't take the card back because they no longer stock it. (they had 150's on the shelf now). Ahhh so that's why the put the 250's on sale last week and didn't have any in the store.

So now I've got to try and return it through the website. Not looking forward to that.

WOW I hate their return policy but that seems unreasonable not to let you return it
I would have demanded the manager give store credit at the least

Man, I have to get back to these forums on a more regular basis; am I to understand that the new & old tuner can now work together in the same box with no issues? All I have to do is to get that SHS driver?

I have 2 PVR-250s with the same issue as the OP; one old, one new. I bought these a while back and had compatability issues - would work fine on different machines. Got a new job 9 months ago, and have been pretty slammed since, so I stopped caring about having a dead card, but my setup has changed and I now need both tuners working.

If you are referring to the mixing of type 15 (350 and older 250) with type 16 (newer 250), it was first fixed around 6/24/2004. Any of the current drivers will correct this problem. I am using the latest from the Hauppauge driver page.

That's the bug I'm talking about. I had baby#2 in early April, interviewed for a new job heavy right after that, then got busy with the job, so the ability to have 2 tuners with SageTV was pretty low on the list. Until the wife escalated that issue 7 days ago.

Thanks again for the heads up. If I can pad the time estimate enough, I should be able to get a full weekend of HTPC work out of this.
